Pros:
If you want a fun and easy walk in the park then this is the course for you. This course just allows you to work a shot in almost whatever way you want. The holes are open enough that you can really just shape your shot in the way that you want to shape it. The course is fairly flat in a nice park that has some long holes. The hole has some elevation but for the most part it is flat. Most of the holes offer multiple shot options because the obstacles tend to be bunched near the greens. Hole 12 is a nice bomber hole that is over 450 feet that lets you air out a drive. Hole 15 has a neat green tucked into the woods, while hole 17 is a nice par 4 that has a green right over a small creek. All in all, Washington Park is great for a quick round and is a great course for beginners. The course has nice concrete pads and the baskets are in good shape.
Cons:
The course was redesigned a few years ago and the signs on the course were not updated to reflect this change. The course is not particularly challenging and some of the holes are too easy. The course has long tees but they do not have concrete pads and are challenging to find. Some of the harder holes have been made easier in recent years as a few large trees came down (hole 1 and hole 17). The course is fairly open and the designer simply did the best with what was available. Don't come here and expect a challenge - come here and expect a short round with easy birdies.
Other Thoughts:
All in all Washington Park is an easy, fun course that offers minimal challenges. This course is a good course for beginners.
