Another Course That Missed It's Target Audience! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:May 30, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

Waterloo is mostly a wooded, technical course. For as new as it is, someone has done a lot of clearing. The course was cut out of thick, thick brambles, underbrush, nettles and every other kind of briar one could imagine. There are some interesting, fun holes here. I think the course designer(s) put a lot of time and effort into creating this course. Thank you for that. This is another course where you want to stay on the fairway. The rough is very thick and unforgiving.

Cons:

As previous reviewers have mentioned, the natural teepads are not good. Concrete, building block or rubber mats would be a huge improvement. There are currently temporary signs up. Some are missing already. Navigation was fairly easy for the most part. There's very little elevation to play with, it has no water and although they're well designed, not a lot of variety of holes.

Other Thoughts:

I'm certainly not as enamored with this course as the previous two reviewers. I thought it has the potential to be another 3 star technical, wooded course. It's very challenging as it is. With improvements to the tees and signage and with some major clearing, I could see my rating going up some.

Probably my biggest problem with Waterloo is, I think they needed to build a course that all these campers could be introduced to the game on. I saw campers, some with young children, trying to play this course with toy discs. This is certainly not a course that you want to learn to play on. I'm not advocating building a bunch of easy little pitch and putt courses but...in this county park, I think more of a recreational course would have fit the clientele better.
