Disservice to Disc Golf 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 20, 2021 Played the course:once

Pros:

- Navigation was a breeze. There were next hole arrows and there is only one path to take thru the woods so you shouldn't get turned around.

Cons:

-----EQUIPMENT-----

- Teepads. This course has rubber teepads which when done right can be passable. This course is not one of them. The rubber used was very thin and because of this every single teepad is very lumpy. The rubber is also slicker than most rubber, combine that with the sand that is present here and its like throwing off of ice. There was also no consistency to the size of the teepads. Some were long and some were short, and all of them weren't wide enough. One teepad was also covered with a few inches of sand and was almost impossible to find and when I did find it I had to just tee off from somewhere close that was safe.

- Baskets. Now I generally wont complain about baskets but the older chainstars are almost impossible to see on the course. The course is extremely wooded and these just kind of blend in. But they catch just fine.

-----THE COURSE-----

- It's not immediately obvious but after a few holes you quickly realize that this course is just a walking path thru the woods that they put baskets on. One fairway is wider than 12'.

- The rough is true rough. It is unmaintained and wild. Be prepared to lose multiple discs unless you have a spotter or two.

- The fairways are very tight, this normally isn't an issue but it is on this course because of the shapes of the fairways. I like a tight wooded course, but this courses fairways have too many random twists and turns.

- Getting to the park is pretty simple and they have a big sign that points you to where the disc golf course is but there is no more help past that, that I saw. If you do not have uDisc then you probably will not find this course. Its in the back of the park by the basketball court.

-----COURSE PLAYABILITY-----

- Holes 1-5 will deceive you and are the only playable part of the course. These holes are a bit tighter than I would like to see on a course but are manageable. These holes all have a line to the basket but the gaps you need to hit are maybe a foot or two wide. The rough on these are wild and unkept and when you get off the 6' wide fairway you will probably be spending a little bit of time looking for your disc. These first few holes are also all a manageable distance for how wooded and tight the fairways are.

- Hole 6 is where things take a drastic turn and will make you contemplate quitting disc golf altogether. Hole 6 is a 605' hole that has a 90 degree turn about 100' down the "fairway" and after that it turns left and right multiple more times. There is no line to the basket at any point and no sense to the hole makeup. This is where the course starts to show what it really is, a walking path with baskets on it.

- Holes 7 thru 18 are best described as adventure golf. Bring a good stack of putters and mids along with a machete and a few spotters. Only two of these holes have a visible basket off of the tee so you will first have to go on an adventure to find the basket before you go on your throwing expedition.

Other Thoughts:

DO NOT PLAY HERE. Save yourself a few discs and an hour or two of your time and sanity.

Spotters are a must and weather or not you have a spotter or two, you should only be throwing putters and mids to try and stay in the fairway. There is no line shaping and no need to power up on any hole.

I gave myself a few days to reflect on this course before I reviewed it because I came away super frustrated, scratching my head as to what I just played. To date, THIS IS THE WORST COURSE I HAVE EVER PLAYED. I can't emphasize this enough but do not play here. This course should be taken out and the baskets should be used somewhere (anywhere) else.

The course is pretty obviously just a walking path with baskets on it. The walking path is beautiful and would be a nice walk or run but there was no work done to make this a playable disc golf course. If this was the first course you ever played then I would bet that you would never play again.
