Decent when not crowded 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 1, 2020 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Back 9 are great - well spread out and challenging enough
Good elevation and variety between the holes for the most part

Cons:

Lack of infrastructure around the area
Doesn't feel too safe depending on when you play
Front 9 are laid all over itself forcing you to wait for other people on completely different holes to be done before you can do your hole
The most oblivious fellow players I've ever encountered. Skipping holes, not allowing faster groups to play through, etc.

Other Thoughts:

If I lived closer I'd prolly be here fairly often.

2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 17, 2016 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

-Great use of elevation variances
-Good blend of hole distances
-OB is clearly marked
-Easy to follow the course
-Course is usually well-maintained

Cons:

-Needs a trash can at every tee
-Signs are either unreadable or non-existent
-Some pins and tees are close together, so you have to watch the group ahead of you

Other Thoughts:

Overall a decent course, especially for beginners. This is where I take my daughters (14 and 11) when they wanna play. Good short holes, none of them are really long. The sun can be brutal, as there isn't much shade, so throw a couple bottles of water in your bag.

Short game work 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jan 30, 2016 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

- Easy to follow
- Nice baskets
- Good elevation changes
- Fairly clean park

Cons:

- Course grows teeth on windy days
- Definitely in need of new tee signs
- Holes 11 and 12's fairways are next to each other so you have to be careful throwing on 11 if there is a group on 12's tee pad. The same goes for 17/18 but there are quite a bit of trees guarding 18's tee pad.
- Hole 13's basket is only about 30 feet from 14's tee so you need to be extra careful to avoid hitting the group in front of you.

Other Thoughts:

This course is great for working on your short game. I primarily threw fairways and midranges. The course is wide open with a few trees scattered here and there - this makes playing on windy days very tough. All in all, this is a great course.

Beginner-Friendly Course in OKC 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jan 30, 2015 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

TL;DR - Old-school public park course designed by the father of disc golf.

- Several highly enjoyable elevated tee shots
- Some parts of the park are really beautiful
- Mature trees offer shade and force interesting lines
- Fun course for beginners with several memorable holes
- Great course for putter or "one disc only" rounds

Cons:

TL;DR - Course feels worn-down and the water hazards smell funny.

- Tee signs destroyed or unreadable due to graffiti
- Water hazards smell strongly of human feces
- Fairly short course with only a few holes over 330'
- Shady characters sometimes hang out in parking lot
- Some areas feel very worn down, garbage abounds
- Tends to be very crowded on nice days and weekends

Other Thoughts:

I enjoy practicing on this course, and some of the holes are really beautiful. But the course is in a rougher part of town and feels pretty worn down.

Update: this course was saved from destruction by the local disc golf community. New teepads have been put in, some baskets have been upgraded, and the course seems much cleaner lately. The new teepads and pin positions make a few holes easier, but I'd much rather have easier holes than no course!

Fair opportunities for a few birdies and just as many longer holes that challenge you for par. Easy to follow despite some missing signs at tee boxes.

Cons:

A few missing signs at tee boxes.

First course I ever played 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 8, 2011 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

This course in my opinion was great for learning the game and getting a little variety. You get a series of throws from elevated tee boxes and tees below the baskets. There are only a couple of holes where you have a chance to get wet, but even then you can retrieve your disc easily enough as the water is shallow. Course is very open.

Cons:

Now back to the water hazards...The water is usually very dirty and smells of sewage. Advisable to have some kind of sanitizer should you have to go in to get a disc. One basket sits rather close to the road and if you are still learning the game and your throws you can easily end up throwing into traffic.

Other Thoughts:

As this was the first course I have ever played it will always have a good memory. The course is fun and quick to play. If you are looking for a course technically sound then you should look elsewhere. If you want a quick fun round with some friend then I reccommend this course.

Good warm up course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 20, 2011 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Great elevation valleys to throw over
-quick turnaround time.(2 people, 1 hour)
-easy access from highway
-bast bang for buck

Cons:

-Tress are all gone
-no shade at all!!!
-Willbilly's

Other Thoughts:

This course is a shodaw of its old self. They removed trees to make it nothing more than a warm up course for Dolese. It is sill best for buck though, navigating is easy and fast, and Freds Mart across the street has all your disc golf needs.

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 10, 2010 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

This course is pretty open and the pins remain in the same placement year round. Lots of wide open areas. Easy course, old baskets, good layout.

Cons:

One long hole, 17, is right next to a public swimming pool and on the other side of the fairway is a creek full of the funkiest water around.

Other Thoughts:

Stay out of the water.

Pitch n' Putt 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 6, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Really fun quick course. I've finished it in a little over half an hour. There are only a couple of holes you can really throw far on, but most of the holes give you some opportunity to try out lots of different lines. The course really utilizes every bit of the area it can, and was well designed. There are some nice hills and elevation change. Nice long tee pads, moderately wooded, but almost no place to lose a disc, unless you hit one water spot on 13. It's a great course to practice mid-range shots and putt. Great course for beginners to build shot confidence without getting lost, and great for more advanced players to work on accuracy. Almost all holes can be birdied with ease, though you'll quickly see inconsistencies with your game when your score isn't as low as it should be.

Cons:

Gets really packed. It's kind of the party course and family course at the same time. Lots of drunks and big groups can slow down play, even though most people let you play through no problem. Course has seen tons of vandalism, there is consistently litter everywhere, and most of the signs are gone or destroyed.

Other Thoughts:

Definitely worth a round, bring someone new to the sport, it will be a great time. If you're in a pinch for time, you can get in a quick 18.

Willbilly 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 6, 2008 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Fun course that you can play pretty quick. Ok course for beginners and others alike. The longest hole is like 375 but everything else is reachable for most players. Good mix of left and right shots and a little elevation as well. It is pretty easy to follow and there isnt really any spots to lose your plastic.

Cons:

You can tell this is an older course, most of the tees are elevated a good 4 to 6 inches therefor there is a step up needed. Tee signs are missing as well.

Other Thoughts:

The shop over the road has a ok selection of discs and a place to get some cold drinks. We stop here all the time for a "warm up" round for Dolese which is pretty close( 5 minutes)

Will Rogers 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 20, 2008 Played the course:once

Pros:

A nice course with some elevation change and water on a few holes. Long Concrete tee pads. There are some signs but easy to follow as there is a some what path from tee to tee. Mostly short to medium distance.

Cons:

Missing signs, and the tees/baskets have had a lot of erosion so tees have drop offs and the baskets set about 6 to 8 inches higher.

Other Thoughts:

You can get disc across the street near hole 12 at the foodmart. There was no one here today (to cold/windy) but the park has a swimming pool and a lot of other things so it could be busy during warmer months.

the HOLE INFO. on the course page is way off or for other tees not the concrete tees.

old, beginner course through clean park 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 9, 2008 Played the course:once

Pros:

Clean, well maintained course designed a long time ago, therefore perfect for beginners and for warm-up and practice these days. Easy to follow, no really blind holes or long walks. Good design with variety. Disc shop next to the course.

Cons:

Tee pads- an accident waiting to happen. They are raised (washed out over time) sometimes up to almost a foot off the ground, so you can't run up from behind and if you slip off the front you could fall or pull a muscle.
Signs- Most gone/vandalized (yet easy to navigate).
