Casual Course Could Go Pro 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 23, 2017 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

The tee pads aren't as wrong as some people insist they are. A few are flipped backwards with the wide end at the front, but who cares? Most are at a strange angle if you stare at the basket, but if you look at the signs you can tell there's an intended mando around a sapling or area of weeds.

Funny to complain the course is too simple and then ignore the details which would make it challenging.

This course is infinitely better maintained, laid out, and groomed than any Houston course inside Beltway 8 (what's left of them). This course will make the forcible move to the suburbs tolerable.

One of the main reasons is so many Houston courses either (a) used to be technical until the drought of 2011 killed all the trees and now they're too simple/short or (b) are monstrously big and only playable by gorillas who can throw 500+ feet from the tee in 20m/h wind or (c) completely over-leveraged with players or pedestrians or both.

This course at first seems too short and too simple, but if you pay careful attention, you see it is not. Sure, it looks like a 200' straight throw, but look at the tee pad and the sign. The tee pad isn't mis-laid, they've set up a mando around a sapling or a section of tall weeds. Once these trees are mature, this will be a very difficult course.

If you treat all the unmowed areas as OB and treat the paths as stroke & distance, this becomes a very difficult course given the typical wind levels. Now look at tee pad alignment and the signs and make assumptions about mandos and this really gets challenging. I could see this being an excellent tournament course in ten years when the trees fill out -- provided it is maintained as well as it is now.

A clear overall course sign & clear signs at each fully poured concrete tee pad.

While the water is in play a few times, this isn't one of those "how many discs do you dare to lose" courses.

Cons:

The unmowed rough can be 3-6' tall in summer and is full of bees and who knows what all else. Go disc diving at your own risk.

#14 truly has a mid-laid tee pad, I suspect they moved the basket after the sign and pad were done. #16 isn't great either, but isn't a complete nightmare. Given how well this course is done, it would be great to see the reversed pads and these two updated.

Other Thoughts:

If they fix a few tee pads and kept the OB areas to less than 3' high so you can find discs without being eaten alive by animals, this would be a top tier course.

Bring a walking stick to beat down weeds when disc hunting.

Bring discs you don't care about for #9 onto the peninsula in case it skips into the pond.

Bring a hat, water and sun screen as there is _NO_ shade on this course whatsoever.

Underrated 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 15, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

The baskets are quality catchers, the pads are flat concrete, the park is nice and the course plays pretty easy for an under par round. Its clean here and I did not find it difficult to navigate at all, the next tee sign is visble from the basket and the tee signs are great!

Cons:

It's way over stated about the tee pads being misaligned, holes 10, 14, 16, and 18 were the ones that were off and it really isnt that bad, you still have a concrete pad to throw from. Maybe a few too many 200-240 foot holes with little to no obstacles. Hole 3 playing near the playground.

Wait on walkers.

Other Thoughts:

I enjoyed this course and am shocked at the two and less ratings for such a small flaw on the tee pads.
