Pros:
Fun unique private 27 hole course on historic 100 acre farm. Plays through some serious glacial till with beautiful boulders and rock walls throughout the property.
Course is very technical and mostly wooded and briefly includes a meadow on a couple holes but still plays from the woods, back into the woods. Some water, ob rope/walls, moderate elevation changes throughout the course adding to the fun and challenge. Has everything from short fun ace race holes, to some long par 4 holes, challenging but fair holes.
Amenities include cool detailed painted rock tee signs, majority of rubber tees now, trash cans, and benches throughout the course. New black Dynamic Recruit baskets on the OG 18, no issues with the other 9 baskets either. I found navigation to be fairly good for the most part with signs pointing to next tee, even with no available course map. Course was very well maintained, little underbrush to lose discs in, don't recall much or little if any poison ivy. Cool farm animals and course owner for allowing us to play here.
Cons:
I think the only real con is it doesn't loop back after 9 holes, and while we're at it, there's no snack bar or wet bar. Single tee and basket. You can play the 18 hole loop without playing 27 holes. That 18 loop is my favorite.
The other 9 holes seem to be newer and shorter and still works in progress, but I think I see the potential of what they eventually want to do with some of those holes and should be on par with the rest of the course. There are still some natural tees, but were mostly level and would anticipate them being upgraded soon.
Other Thoughts:
Rhode Island disc golf ain't no joke, I love Willow Valley! IMO this course is criminally under-rated from some early reviews and has been upgraded even from the previous review. Willow Valley reminds me a lot of Sugaree NC, Joralemon NY, and Black Falls VT, where just walking the course is a scenic nature hike worth it, but you get to throw some discs along the way. Highly recommend to anyone not allergic to woods golf.
