Fun Course at University (West Virginia)

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jul 30, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

Fun and challenging recreational course (Lot's of Ace Run possibilities) for this seasoned Disc Golfer.

9 Innova Disc catcher Baskets

Moderately Hilly (Not surprised, your in West Virginia)

Beautiful flora encompassing the course (I felt like I was playing in an Arboretum) Grass was cut, no trash. Beautiful place for a course on campus

5 Hammocks located in the middle of the course

I liked hole # 6 the best. All uphill for this short hole. Basket was perched a top of the hill giving the player the inkling to go for the Ace. Only to find an upper parking lot about 75 feet behind the basket.

Hole # 2 was a fun hole, Elevated teeing area with a small bog lining most of the front left section of the hole

Hole #7 Was all downhill straight forward type of hole. With basket placed in the center of a large pond to the left of basket and bog area to the right of the basket. I don't see the water coming into play that often. But I'm sure some throws could find water on this hole.

Cons:

Dirt Tees (Tees we're marked white cones, and they we're pretty close to one another)

No Tee signs (But you didn't really need any because course flowed well and had colored arrows in basket well pointing one to the next tee area).

No trash cans

Lots of Geese and they're leftovers

Other Thoughts:

The ponds really didn't come into play, Though I can see someone finding water if they really shanked their shot.

The Course is located next to the West Virginia Recreation center. So there's clean restrooms available.

Plenty of parking outside school hours. Might need a parking pass during school hours as I went threw an open mechanical gate when I played this course.

Not a destination course, but a course you'll be glad you played. and if you get tired after your round there's plenty of hammocks to rest up in :)

Put Your Camel To Bed 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 4, 2021 Played the course:once

Pros:

A mini-oasis consisting of a few micro ponds, some scattered trees, and a rock, found amidst a grassy slope, surrounded by concrete.

Cons:

9-single chain baskets in various states of repair, set mostly upright.

No marked tees, although UDisc had suggested tee locations, or just play safari.

Baskets were out in July, but not in January, so availability could be variable.

Other Thoughts:

Course it set in a few-acre patch of green space found between the roads, parking lots, and buildings of the Evansdale portion of the Morgantown campus.

Baskets are scattered about this space, bringing a tree or two into play, or one of the tiny ponds. Minimal shot-shaping is needed, but there are some elevation changes. Distances are quite short.

Basket#8 is evilly placed, on a narrow (less than 30' wide) "causeway" separating two of the ponds, a touchy shot for experienced players, but quite unsuitable for beginners, unless the goal is to see how many students can fit into one of these ponds.

If you park below/beside the course, you'll likely start with UDisc-tee#6; if you park above the course, tee#1.

If you happen to be passing through Morgantown and want to bag a putter-safari course in less time than it takes to listen to the B-side of a Maria Muldaur album, give it a go; otherwise, skip.
