Best Disc Golf Shoes?

I currently use Vibram Five Fingers for running. They have unparalleled grip for trails and boulders. I don't really do any road running anymore unless I am out for a short jog around the neighborhood. I plan on transitioning to the Xeroshoes running sandals after my current pair of Five Fingers wear out.

The Xeroshoes makes actual running shoes that to me seem like they would be better for running then the Sandals. Yeah I prefere running on trails more too. What model of Five fingers are you wearing?

I currently wear, Since the ASICS 2100 series got changed for the 2000 series again the Brooks Cascadia models from 8 the 9 and 10 models I have. I heard the 11 that I did not plan to own were just as bad as 10's that I had to put some Gorilla Glue on part of the upper where the shoes would rip on the 10's I have another 2 pair or 10's waiting with the same modification when My current pair die along with my 9.

Before all the different minimal molds those who wanted minimal shoes some guys wore Racing flats on roads and others wore if trail running the XC flats if they wanted a minimal shoe, this or they wore a pair of much less expensive mesh water shoes with the bungee laces often swapping out the bungee laces for regular laces. It is just that the person had to often change out minimal options for running shoes more frequently then with all the the minimal molds made since 2010.

The Xeroshoes running shoe (the Prio, which I have) is just the sandal with a running shoe top. Useful when cold, but I like the idea of going tarahumara style. I have had a pair of KSO Treks that I bought in 2009 and had to replace with KSOs in 2016. so I might be able to get another 5 years or so out of these.

I would if I did not have Brooks Cascadias as my training model and trail racing model unless I need my old Nike Miler XC shoes for a muddy shorter course say ~10k and under.

Yeah those Xeroshoes are some of the most durable shoes on the market Except for maybe the Vibobarefoot leather shoe. I have had the Brooks and they last a long time for traditonal type running shoes. One pair of 8 I got 700-800 miles on them th other were messed up and the cushioning went flat early.

I would get the regular shoes from Xeroshoes if I wore minimal. I like the idea of having a shoe that is like a more modern version of what the people wore in as there running shoe up to sometime in the 1950's prior to brands making a true running shoes those being traditional Ked like shoes, often being the leather version to cut down more on foot chafing if they could get the leather version shoe where they lived.

What are the best? Completely subjective question but I prefer the Adidas Terrex Swift GTX Mids. The traction on these are really great. They really grip well & keep me confident that I won't slip around. I also really like that they fit my skinny feet well. Always had a hard time finding mid height athletic boots that aren't super wide (like Keen).

I add a Dr. Scholls insole on top of the one already in them.

I also buy these:

I tear through my Adidas because of my toe drag (FH & BH). These toe guards work really well. Highly recommend.

Well, I guess Nike is out of the running for disc golf shoes.

What are the latest recommendations for disc golf shoes? La Sportiva Synthesis and Adidas Terrex Fast Surround are the latest I've been told about. I'm currently playing in Salomon X Ultras which I love, but they are not great at all on wet tee boxes.

I picked these up this week:

https://www.salomon.com/en-us/shop/product/outline-gtxr.html#1191=9525

For me they are ideal disc golf shoes. Light, waterproof, flexible and soft uppers, similar to trail runners but with a little more stable base. I used Salomon trail runners (XA Pro 3D's) for years and wanted something a little more stable. Tried Keens and they are way too heavy. These have the perfect balance IMO.

Word of caution, they are narrow. I have narrow feet and these are even pushing it a little bit. No way would they work for someone with even slightly wide feet.

Im still on the Adidas Tracerocker tip. They are cheap(50$ish), light weight, stylish, and great grip. I have found no reason to upgrade to get the continental sole, the Traxion sole is great.

I also have some for hiking and im always walking in water, sand, and rock piles. They grip so good and have held up to all the punishment. Im 6'4" roughly 200lbs. Havent had any blowouts....the merrells (moab)on the other hand, blew out twice in less than 6 months.(the new pair and replacement pair)

I got some North Face Ultra trail running shoes. So far are thr best disc golf shoes Ive ever had. Light, comfortable, goretex, good grippy tread that doesnt get in the way on the tee!

Anyone else having issue with the gray colored adidas continental sole?
I have a set of terrex with the black continental sole and I've played a few rounds in them and they have held up well, but the shoe itself is my go to day hiking shoe and I didn't want to ruin it golfing.
I had a pair of climaproof ax2 and they held up decently well until the sole separated and now some of the fabrics are peeling off.
So I got a pair of CMTK GTX with the gray continental soles, and concrete tee pads are just eating them alive.

Next pair of shoes will probably be salomons due to how well they have held up for a friend of mine

I have used the AX2 for the past couple months and I love them. They're super light, great traction, great breathability, great comfort, and all for a shoe I paid $35 or something for at Costco.
But after seeing all the rain we've had lately, and worrying about playing my first tournament all day long in possibly soaking brush, I decided to buy a pair of Merrell Moab 2 GTX boots.
Dang.

I put the boots on FOR THE FIRST TIME at 6am, wore them all day long through two rounds, the second of which was around 80 degrees and I was still in long pants. Did a lot of trekking through wet and thorny brush, never lost my footing, and never once did my feet get wet from either leaking (Gore Tex blocked all that) or sweat (Gore Tex also vented vapor from my feet instead of letting it condense). I mean I've always been a fan of Gore Tex boots, but these are light and comfortable. I can't recommend them enough.

I still plan to use the AX2 as a default shoe, but if it's wet, I'm going to keep these Moab2 GTX's at the ready!

I'm all about the gore tex adidas. They fit like a glove, keep my feet dry as long as I wear appropriate pants along with them and I even end up wearing them at work instead of boots because they're so sure footed and comfy. Great traction, cleans up easily and has taken a beating thus far with no complaints from me.
Well worth the money and definitely the best I've tried for DG.

I've played in muck boots before- whatever it takes to keep your feet warm & dry is always worth it!

I just ordered 2 pair of adidas Terrex Swift R2 GTX GORE TEX Shoes Men's for $105 + tax (free shipping). These are $140/pr shoes and this is the best price I've ever seen. Black only though, which I prefer anyway.

Brand new in box on ebay -- buy 1 at $70 & get the 2nd at half off.

Direct link to these shoes:

There was a good selection of sizes when I ordered mine a couple hours ago.

Just checked, all sizes up to 15 still available, really great deal.

I received these shoes today, shipped directly from Adidas via their eBay store. They look like awesome shoes, similar to the climaproof versions I've been wearing in the past. But these have have the Continental Rubber Sole and are Gore-Tex. Can't beat it for almost one-third the price of retail.

One adidas shoe i cant recommend is the terrex swift r. I hate the speed lacing on them and they fit poorly for me. Rub the sides of my pinky toes raw and seem to be made for a Fat foot. (Others may have better luck, buddy of mine the same size had bad fitment issues as well)

Im still in love with the Tracerockers. Very cheap (easily found around 40$)and a great hybrid hiker/tennis shoe. I have the goretex version as well and they are just as great. They just have the Traxion sole but i find that to be extremely grippy. Im 6'5" 200lb so i put alot of pressure on the shoe. They hold up fantastically.

Also would not work for me, I tried on an older version of the same shoe when looking for the shoes for a trail running shoe and the pinkie toe would rub on that odd part of midsole that comes up on the side. I settled for the Brooks Cascadia models though the 11 I have are garbage and had to modify part of the upper where it rips at 100 miles in with Gorilla glue on top to protect that part. I am done with non trail running shoes except for a racing model the second to last DS Racer model I got Cheep on Amazon for roads as they do not last on regular road running anymore with how skimpy the upper on most have gotten on the training models. I settle This was when I ran more, need to get back into that.

These are the R2's so I'm not sure how much they changed from the R's, but it doesn't seem to be made for a wide foot at all. It's firmer/beefier than the AX2's, similar to some Salomons I have. As far as the Quick lace feature, I'll just use regular laces if I don't like it.

Like you said, the quality is there, they seem bullet proof.
