A friend of mine who is rated around a 950 give or take shot even and will be playing tomorrow with Climo. Now that's pretty cool. Going toe to toe with the champ on one of the most challenging courses in the world. Awesome.

anyone i know? i saw s.neal was near the top i have played with him before

Anthony Mock has an expected score of 81, shoots 103 yesterday, and 75 today.

I believe it. I had an expected score of 82 trying to qualify. You can tell any given round out there for us ams can be a 20 stroke or more swing.

I had a 20 stroke swing in the final four holes. Went OB 3 times through 14, then went OB 11 times on the final four!

Glitch in the scores on the back, looks like upm no showed.

How about 14-year old Paige Bjerkaas? Killed it through 12 holes yesterday, and through 16 holes today.

I don't know for sure that she didn't lay up on #17, but a 12 on the scorecard sure makes it look like she wasn't laying up. And it's not just her -- there are plenty of big scores on #17.

I played this course on Monday. If you're not rated over 950ish, I really think the play is to lay up. Maybe even a higher rating threshold than that. If you miss ONE TIME from the tee, your best possible score is a 4. If you lay up, you probably make 4 at the worst.

She can play! I sometimes have a tough time beating her score. And that's why she already has multiple sponsors.

Went for it off the tee - missed - layed up - missed - missed - parked it for drop in 9s both days so far. Enough of a headwind to mess with you on 17 today. Got a pair of "electrical sockets" on 5 also (think 11 with a circle or two around it). That's 40 of my 191 shots on just two holes.

wow, the guy at the top of the leader board is a sub 900 rated player, I think it would be pretty cool to be able to say that after 2 rounds at the USDGC you were at the top of the board above guys like feldberg, climo and schultz, even if it is because of your handicap...

It's unlikely I would be in Phil Arthur's group after the second round under any other format unless there were only four Masters...

sub 900?

Not if you only count the rounds he has played over the past year like most players ratings are calculated

Ouch.

Well,
1) If you didn't go for it off the tee, you would have saved 2 strokes.
2) The fact that you "parked it" indicates you probably weren't aiming for the fat part of the green.

I think if you're going to lay up, you gotta commit to it, and you gotta go for the fat part. Take your 4 and walk quietly to the next hole.

Of course that's easy for me to say.
