What is the best Merrell shoe choice?

I know many people are wearing the Moabs but I think that others may be just as good if not better.
1. Chameleon Wrap Gore-Tex® XCR®
2. Chameleon Evo GORE-TEX® XCR®
3. Moab GORE-TEX® XCR®
4. Other options

I have had all three in the past. #1 would be my choice and is the one I still currently have. If it means anything to you, I am going to buy the same pair to replace my old ones. They can get soaking wet on the outside but your feet will be dry on the inside. Granted I have never walked through a creek with them on but when grass is wet from rain or dew they work great.

I wore the Gore-Tex Moabs on a recent backpacking trip and they held up great during the inevitable day-long soaking we got.

I'm currently wearing the Merrell Pulse for DG (got 'em in the bargain bin!), but it's time to start cycling in a new pair.

Shoe # 2.

I own them. Takes a while to get them broken in but after a solid week of playing they are good to go. Very durable & waterproof! Worth the 120$ I paid for them.

I have submerged my feet in water and they will stay dry, as long as the water doesn't rise up to your socks, then you have a problem.

I personally wear the Outland <not waterproof though>.The support and the traction are awesome. Plus I tend to slightly drag my toe when I throw forehand, but it has the rubber toe guard that goes right where that area is, and actually holds up well compared to other shoe brands. I use a spray can of water proofing <scotchgard> to give the shoes a couple of coats before I go and wear them and they will help keep you dry. Not as well as gore-tex, but close to it!

I've owned #1 and #3, and am currently using #3 as my disc golfing shoe. I loved both, I just found the Moab to be sturdier, and it has held up better over time for me. The current pair has been through about 500 rounds on 90 courses in the last 2 years, and are just showing wear in the last month or so. I'll be buying the exact same shoe to replace them.

Does any retail store sell those? I really don't want to drop that kind of money on a shoe I have not tried on. Also, do they make Hi Tops? I prefer them becase I am so tall and I like the ankle support.

Try this

They are great shoes. You should give them a try...

I've got option #1, and have enjoyed them. Great in cold weather, great in wet grass... not quite as good a footing as I had hoped -- sometimes don't grip as well as some other shoes, but still pretty good. I'm happy with them, though I'm considering other options for summer, when these can get heavy/hot.

I am seriously looking at these. I really want a waterproof shoe that will breathe. I hate getting my feet wet. I use hiking boots right now, but they are not water proof at all. I sprayed water proofing spray on them but that only goes so far. I played in a tournament once where the grass was wet, and my feet got wet and I was pissed the whole day. One of the worst tournaments I have ever played in. Also, alot of the courses around here hold water after a storm and I am always worried about getting my feet wet trying to get a disc that landed in standing water.

These shoes are more than I usually spend for a pair of shoes, but my motorcycle boots were $110, so I will spend the money if I think they are worth it. I was going to spend $65 for a pair of water proof hiking boots, but I might look into these instead.

Got mine at at Dick's Sporting Goods in Baton Rouge. That's a national chain, so should be one in Houston. Plenty to try on. Good prices. They have some discs also -Innova stuff only.

From a good for your feet perspective as well as quality of craftsmanship you can't go wrong with Merrell. And shoot I spent 250 on my Sidi B2s so your boots were a good price in my eyes.

If you have an REI near you, I would recommend trying there. They usually have a good selection of Merrells, and their customer service is fantastic. If there's any issue with the shoes at all, they will replace them or have them repaired with no questions asked.

My feet were soaked wearing Columbia "water proof shoes" at DeerLick. How were your feet and socks?

My shoes were soaked from all the wet grass. The funny thing is, I thought my feet were soaked. It was weird. I would have sworn that my feet were wet. I took an extra pair of socks to change into after the first round. At lunch I took off my shoes and to my surprise my socks were dry. Goretex is the answer. I left my shoes out in the sun for most of lunch and they were pretty dry by the second round.

I have to say that those shoes were worn out too. I've heavily worn them for more than a year, everyday use and work too. I think I have even run them through the washing machine a couple of times. I sort of retired them and usually only wear them when I am playing DG now. Like I said I am going to get the same pair again. This time they will be dedicated disc golf shoes and I expect to get at least a couple of years out of them if not more...

Moral of the story, whichever ones you choose spend the money and get ones with Goretex for sure.
