[Innova] DESTROYER destroyers unite!!

Slowplastic, have you tried a max weight pro destroyer? For me, my max weight would give me a slight s curve but carry for 430-450ft. A lighter weight (168) is a great roller or anny bomber.

As someone who has kept at least 1 max weight pro destroyer in the bag continuously since 2009 I would NOT try one for the shots Slowplastic is asking about. Pro destroyers are freaking amazing, but I would never throw one in a L to R wind or headwind and expect it to hold and fade. Straight laser beams with epic insane amounts of glide and a mellow finish at 80% power? Heck ya.

that it will give a hint or bit of ride for me in calm conditions so that it's more forgiving for release angle and it extends the flight, but has enough HSS that I can use it for distance throws in the wind

Pro D's will do the bolded part, but not the italics.

Thanks again, really useful to hear those numbers. As for Pro Destroyers, I have seen guys with less distance than me get more turn out of them than I expect a Destroyer should have for them...perfect discs for them but it makes me feel like G Star is right for an all out distance Destroyer for me (nothing wrong with Pro, I just like how G Star feels and I bet the flights are pretty similar from what I've seen).

It's difficult to know what to expect with certain discs and distances...like what does "I throw 400' " mean...what discs. I can get both Destroyers of mine that far but I know they are mellower ones. I can get a flippy disc like a Vulcan out to 425' occasionally but I consider myself more of a 400' thrower on a rope. Then going to beefy discs like my XCal I'm down to 350'. So it's nice to hear that there's 75'+ distance differences for other people too in different speed 12ish molds.

It sounds like I should stick with a non-extreme beef Destroyer, and if I end up with one that's crazy beefy either trade it to a big arm or use it for FH and spike utility until it's broken in to be what I want. I have thrown a * Destroyer that was as beefy as my XCal (flight shape was slightly different), and also have my own star that is super mellow/straight...so there's a crazy amount of variation out there. Arrgh heh

I'll try to test out my friend's star XCal when I have the chance as well to see how that does, but I feel unless I'm throwing 450'+ I don't need to seek out the beefiest Destroyers or XCal's for this role (but beaten in they'd probably be perfect). My current XCal sample size is so small that it's hard to know just how OS they usually are.

I have 3 x cals. 2 champ and 1 star. The star is about as stable as my most stable destoyers. The champs are flat and crazy stable, used for FH OS duties only.

Won a couple unofficial distance contests with local "pros" yesterday.

Gosh, domey stiff Echo Destroyers go so freakin far.

Did anyone see the super swirly star he had in his bag???? With a McPro and mini Air Force stamp.

I bet that's what they are!!

Well that just seemed to be the same swirly air force stamped softer star runs they have been doing with really sexy swirls but really soft star plastic that breaks in super quick, basically g star like. I hope they keep the swirls give him a badass stamp and somehow get a little stiffness back in the star plastic and a little more stability, something close to the wiggins but with some serious dome.

odds are its just a misprint/F2 normal modern destoyer.

- hoping that my odds are way off ;)

Apparently he just had some stamped with his McPro stamp for himself.

Not sure they will be available to the public.

Yea the main commentator was joking about "McPro Destroyers" on the GBO stream. Looked like Paul's current Aviar stamp on some swirly pink and yellow (maybe a green?) Destroyers.

I swear I saw a recent ITB with him where he talks about them but I can't find it for the life of me.

What I was talking about (I kinda got them mixed up) is the one he posted on Insta/Facebook. It's a post from May 8 featuring the Incredibly swirly Star Destroyer w mini Air Force stamp, new McPro Roc3s, and his signature 3x Grip bag!!

I'll just update what I did for my OS "Destroyer" slot for my posts over the last page or so. I went with a VIP World...wider rim than I thought I wanted but it's a bit deeper than a Tern or Vulcan so I still get a good grip. I do prefer how a Destroyer feels a bit more in a backhand grip (rim is quite sharp in my palm), and quite a bit more in a FH grip (Destroyer is slightly deeper), but I haven't had a bad release with it yet...it's quite easy to throw.

Basically as a 400' thrower on a line drive...most of my shots are 375-400' with outliers +/- of that...the World is within 10' of my Destroyers and I would definitely call it 13/4/-0/4 where my beat star Destroyer is 12/5/-1/1 and GStar is 12/5/-1/2. The World just holds absolutely straight for me for half the flight, then hints at holding straight or the tiniest bit right....then goes into a huge fade. I think it will fade but it just goes straight for another 30'+. It's absolutely perfect for what I want right now, dead straight consistent flights with a very very delayed huge fade that hits the ground fast and skips on the right surfaces. The World is not as HSS as my XCal, but I am able to throw it on a straight line for longer. I have not had heavy winds yet to try it in, but in moderate winds I could just pump it out flat.

For FH I only throw ~330' on a flat or slight hyzer flip release, with flex shots up to 350', and the Destroyer is better for me. The Destroyer will ride a bit more left and then fade out, and I can tell that I can't get the World up to speed on FH yet. It has another gear that I can't get to. But the fade is much bigger than my Destroyers. I am sure a beefy star Destroyer would be more aggressive than my Destroyers (I recently threw a domey Champ Destroyer that I would call 12/4/+0/3 and I have significant distance loss over my Destroyers), but the World is nice.

So for someone in the 400' range the World does exactly what I want currently. I can tell I am at the low end of ability to throw it, but I'm far enough into it that it's easy and consistent to throw. But I know it could take a lot more power than I have, and I hope it doesn't beat in too much. It's not exactly a Destroyer, and Destroyers currently feel better in my hand than it, but it should coexist with my setup nicely. I do know that there are beefy Destroyers that can handle more power than all of my discs, but I also know I wouldn't be able to throw them as far.

I hope this is helpful to somebody...

What's everyone thinking about the new run of Star AJ Destroyers? I'm loving mine. Just picked up a few more since the first one I bought has been awesome and I might even get more yet. They are a softer blend (which I prefer) so some might not like the feel. For me they are absolutely bombing with a flight that's dead accurate on its flight numbers. I'm getting a little turn and a healthy fade and they are holding up great in the wind. Can't comment on how they break in yet but so far one of my favorite runs of Destroyer.
