Straight Fairway Driver

A Stalker is exactly what you are looking for, and you won't be disappointed. But get it in z plastic...not Ti. Ti stalkers are great, and I love them, but they are much more overstable. The z has a very similar line to the Buzzz...just 25-50ft farther.

Agreed.

If straight is what you're looking for it doesn't get any straighter than a z stalker.
Personally I use an fd for this role, its longer and more workable than the stalker.
I think at your distances a premium teebird would be more overstable than what your looking for. I used to throw the jls way back 100 years ago, to me it was a better version of the leopard.

You really can't go wrong with most of the options that have been posted though.

I would think the opto river should be plenty straight stable at the distance you are throwing it.

Stalker is the exact mold you're describing. It is a longer range Buzz, but if you don't want to deal with a bead on your fairway go with a TL. TLs are so workable, stable enough to stay straight under power and have some fade at the end, but you don't have to crank it for it to do what you want.

Your right. It is THE fairway driver.
Ummm. No. It is not, it's a midrange.

YES!!!!

No! :wall:

Don't encourage stupidity

TL, Stalker, Discmania FD are all pretty similar in flight, and pretty straight, so whichever feels better to you, or is easiest to acquire/replace, get that one.

thanks for al lthe help. ill go look at the teebird, tl, fd and stalker tomorrow and see what feels good to me.

TL will be straighter out of the box. New premium plastic Teebirds have too much fade to qualify as straight. Or, just hyzer flip your River.

sometimes i can hyzer flip my river and it will go lazer straight with a little fade but i cant do it consistently yet at this point, but i am going to keep working on it. i havent been practicing my driving much lately, ive mostly been focused on my putting

It depends if you are using the term "fairway driver" to describe a certain speed of discs based upon rim size or if you are describing a tool in your bag for getting the job done. When I have a fairway that can not be missed at long distances I reach for a z buzzz. When I need to reach further but don't have to land in a restricted area I reach for a different tool, a distance driver. If it isn't far away I am approaching or putting. You don't have to insult me because my thoughts are different than yours.

I love my TD for straight shot. Lot of glide with a little fade in the end. Not flippy and can handle some winds, too.

I don't think he understood what you guys were trying yo say. But just because you can throw it really far still doesn't make it a fairway driver...it just makes it a really long mid range.

I can throw my vector and axis just barely shorter than my fairways, but they are still mid ranges.

+1 for Champ tl 175. Its my most trusted disc, used it as a pinpoint accurate mid as well until the legacy ghost came into my life :)

The terms have all changed over the years. The xd used to be a driver as well as the stingray. The gazelle was a distance driver before it was ever called a fairway driver. What are the exact rim requirements nowadays to be considered a fairway driver to all the intelligent players? If the buzzz works well for me as a fairway driver then why can't I call it that without being told it is stupidity?

The op wants a longer buzzz and my opinion is that the op should work on getting a longer buzzz shot. 280' is not really getting the buzzz up to speed all the way. Work on crushing it further instead of adding another disc and you will probably be better off in the long haul. Things that can make a buzzz fly farther are; lighter weights, more snap, smoother release, higher lines, nose down release, and more follow through.

I never said anyone was stupid. And I know that XDs and Aviars used to be drivers, but you would never call one that now. I just think its easier to refer to discs the same way the manufacturer does. Saying that the buzzz is a fairway driver could confuse the heck out of someone new.

Its totally fine to say that the buzzz is long enough to take a fairway drivers spot, but t still isnt a fairway driver...its a mid range.

To those of you arguing about what the Buzzz is... I get both sides of the argument, but the argument is moot for this thread because you all missed the original question. The OP has a Buzzz already and wants something with a similar flight but longer. So something longer than a Buzzz is not a Buzzz.

Also, if the manufacturer and the majority of players consider a Buzzz a mid, I'll also consider it a mid. And yes, if Discraft and the majority of players jumped off a bridge I would too.

Depends on your throwing style. The JLS is the laser straight disc for me.

Good luck!

Way to remind me of the JLS. I buried mine in a pond on Sunday. Super short ace run but I threw it high and some branches caught it and dropped it in. I was trying not to think about it.
