I actually really enjoy watching videos of the top players throwing once in a while, I feel like I learn a lot by really watching how they all throw, and what many of their different forms have in common. The one thing I don't like about the youtube videos that would be much better on real tv would be actually seeing the disc for it's whole flight (often a little difficult on grainy internet videos).

its still pretty hard to see the discs on tv except on the shorter holes or unless they have two cameras then they have the problem of the camera man getting in the way , and if i was a top pro id care less about being on tv and more about losing a tourney because of that.

They have this magical thing called HD...its amazing, you can see little hummingbirds flying around and bees and stuff.

One would fathom a guess that discs would be visible as well.

Even in something like the clash videos, you can see the flight of the disc, and really get a feeling for the throw and the hole. That kind of footage of major tournaments would be awesome.

Soap Box Derby was on ESPN, my lil sis was the national champ a couple years ago. The list is also missing the Spelling Bee and Chess I've seen on TV. Baseball and Nascar are the most boring things to watch on TV although its much better see them live at the stadium.

I love watching Poker, Swimming, Track, and would also love Disc Golf in HDTV. Ball Golf requires some really good camera work, and its not really interesting to watch. Disc Golf is more forgiving as far as camera work because a disc is so much easier to see with a camera behind the tee and the disc itself has a lot more action than a ball. Two cameras on hole would be pretty good coverage with some good announcers. John Madden Disc Golf!!! That would be friggin' awesome!

You also have to remember that some disc golf holes aren't terribly well suited for a good camera angle, namely those tight woodsy ones we all like to play.

Poker, spelling bees and cheerleading on ESPN is because they lost their racing coverage contracts......... the last 4-5 years of ESPN programming has been a joke.

If this happens, I'm putting my Wizard directly through my TV screen. Nah, my XCaliber. I don't want glass shards in my money putter. I'm glad the doofus finally retired.

"You see, what Climo has to do is grab his disc and try to throw it through all the trees and over the creek and try to get it to land into the basket. If he lands in the schule, he's going to have a hard time getting it out back onto the fairway to try and save for par. On the other hand, if he lands in the creek, he's going to have to take a stroke penalty which will cause him to bogey the hole."

I love Madden's ridiculous statements of the obvious.

"If Barry wants to catch Ken here, he's going to have to get to the basket in fewer strokes."

Or how about Frank Caliendo announcing as John Madden! Madden was so funny to listen to, he was awesome! The worst announcer ever had to be Dennis Miller.

sometimes he would break it down stick people style. I think as a former super bowl winning coach that he prob thinks that most fans are not very knowledgeable. so he has to speak like we are kids or just got off the boat. Miller did suck but his stand up isn't bad.

Why is everyone so gung-ho on DG "growing". More crowds = more bone heads = longer waits = pay to play?? I am not against it's growth, I just don't quite understand the push to grow. With the "growth" of DG comes some major problems, (cluster f's) that are in stark contrast to the reason most DG'ers got into THIS sport. W/ growth comes more players, arent our courses crowded enough? W/ growth will be the need to build more courses, sounds like a bonus, but B4 you can say DG we will all be paying to play, U watch. W/ growth comes many, many more problems, is there an upside to "growth"? Just my thoughts, again I am not against growth, just cautious. P22OUT
its cool someones has the balls to say what alot of us really feel inside but dont wanna say out loud.

i love running into new players who are eager to learn and will actually come up to you and ask to tag along but i have noticed alot more aggro types lately and i find myself avoiding the busier courses that are starting to turn into drunken frat parties that just happen to take place on a dg course.

Or he was hit a few times too many on the field as a player and is a little punch drunk. He may have been Captain of the Obvious but he'll be missed. I'm a big Collinsworth fan from the 80s, but know it just won't be the same.

There really is a huge difference between the new players who come out to learn and have fun, and the new players who come out to drink and be loud. Unfortunately, it seems like the second group is the fastest growing at the moment...

you might be right, in the old days they didn't know a lot about concussions . But I use to think pat summerall was sloshed during broadcasts. Then I heard him on on the Jim Rome radio show and it turns out he was a very smooth talker. The reason he sounded so disoriented is that he had a hard time reading the his words of the screen, old age had taken it's toll on his eyesight.
