Paul McBeth Signature Disc

I'm still putting my money on the test batch of stiff kc Pitt and approach Aviars that was a slightly different mold to be his sig disc.

As long as these come out as a stock stamp, I'll still be bounding around like a damn gazelle. A flat top champion Roc to production at less than a grand to buy??? Must be a sign of the apocalypse...

omgz there's 2 for sale in the MP! for $50... don't wait for them to get released, get ripped off while you still can!

that seller is a pro touring golfer
those sales help him tour

not justifying the prices but having dealt with him many times
a) super nice
b) he's not really the type to intentionally gouge for the sake of ripping off other golfers

While that makes intuitive sense, the dx Aviar does not sell as much as high speed and especially Blizzard plastic. Also, since the disc costs half as much, the Pro's cut would likely be smaller per disc. Most people I know who throw Aviars have neat ones from a tournament or something as well, which wouldn't have a signature.

If I were an Innova pro with a choice of a sig disc it would be the Blizzard Katana all the way...even if I never threw them.
Hmmmm... I'd go DX Aviar all day my man. Katana is gonna cool off over time... DX Aviar will earn solidly for a long time. Factor in its special Educational pricing, inclusion in every bulk set ever, its lower price point, and the DX Aviar looks more like a goldmine. (I'm talking golden by volume... gimme 2 cents on every DX Aviar over 20 cents on any Katana)

It might be telling that the DX Aviar wasn't chosen (unless that DOES remain to be seen, per Bootsy's conspiracy sources :) ) .... I'd be willing to bet that it's such a high-selling product that Innova is unwilling to offer it as a signature model. The margin on DX Aviar is something I bet they keep their closest eye on.

Feldberg did choose wisely with the big dumb Boss. If the most essential disc (the DX Aviar, which he uses!) isn't available, you go to the other extreme... the most per-capita unnecessary and easily-lost (but thrown *just right* [once]) premium driver out there.

Yeah, if the Aviar became a sig disc I'm betting there would be no more educational pricing and Aeros would start showing up in the combo packs...

You are right though, it could be a goldmine over time. Personally I think you are also right that it will never be a sig model...I'm pretty sure it's still Dave D's baby as I think he still feels it's his greatest creation.

i foresee a lot of dominators getting lost in the near future. i haven't thrown one yet, but compared to the swords my buddy was throwing the past 2 times i've played with him it looked flippy.

The Roc could go into porn, Teebird get locked up for vehicular manslaughter, Valkyrie get lost in the warm hug of smack....

And the Aviar would be home on prom night.

i am not reading this whole thead to figure out if someone has thrown this discs or not. If someone has, can i get a review?

They are selling like crazy in the USDGC proshop. I picked up 2 and got to throw one of them a couple of times in a field around the Winthrop course. Definitely not as much HSS as your typical USDGC Champ Rancho. They feel awesome in the hand and the plastic is like those stupid crystal clear Beasts that have been floating around. When I say flat, think of the dx flat tops. They were all marked with the factory second stamp, and some of them had a sunken in feel on the flight plate.

so do they have HSS like a DX rancho?

IME the HSS of a new dx Roc is the same as your average USDGC Roc, it's the LSS that really marks the difference (with the premium plastics being more LSS, especailly in the last bit of flight).

so flippy discs get lost more?

I would say overstable discs get lost more.

i just meant that if it's the hot new warp speed driver there will be a lot of people throwing them, more people throwing them the higher the likelihood of finding one on the course. flippy isn't necessarily bad, but if you can't get it dialed in to be controlled there is a lot more room for an errant shot...especially in a warp speed driver where you're going for distance over accuracy.

I'm glad to see that innova has finally realized that they make more money selling a higher volume/lower profit margin than with a super low volume/higher profit margin model. It's taken too long to get a premium plastic roc into production. With the recent release of the star roc, (which is $$$ in that softer midrange blend BTW) though, I guess this was inevitable eventually.

Not intending to take anything away from McBeth at all, but I'm surprised that innova let the roc be his sig disc. And if it won't go into production as his sig disc as has been speculated, then it makes no sense that they would release what looks like a production stamp w/ his name at the USDGC. Releasing it at the USDGC is like having a CD release party to promote the thing. It's a foregone conclusion that whatever roc they bring to the tourney is going to be the star of the show, so to speak. Every single one will be snapped up, for sure.

You know that previous champs must've asked Dave D. to have that disc and been denied. I gotta think the Champ and Dave have had that conversation and IMO, if anybody should have their name on a champ roc it should be him. I would think if innova put a signature on arguably the most iconic name in their line-up, then it should be inarguably the most dominant disc golfer of all time. Dave should have let Climo have the roc.

I know the beast is taken, which would've been kinda sweet for him, but surely there's another mold that he throws which he could've taken as his sig disc. Not saying he doesn't deserve a big seller, but putting champ rocs into production is a game changer. They've been so exclusive for so long that no doubt they'll sell like hot cakes when they go into regular production. I think KC earned it, from his decades of loyalty to the company and to the sport.

Am I wrong?
