[The Crit Piece]

Hes not mine (belongs to my sister and Seanmeacham) but this bulldog sleeps 18 hours a day, eats for 1 hour, lays down for 2 and discs for the remaining 3. The guy loves water and swimming (he cant actually swim but he tries his damnest) and he is always the most popular guy on the course.

Here's my boy, Otis. I let him caddy for me when I'm only playing a few discs but not much anymore since he's 12. He's still pretty youthful, but I don't want to push it. The other picture was on the way to Harbin park for a fun round. Best picture of him ever. He isn't too familiar with disc golf rules, so i don't take him very often (I lose my voice pretty early trying to get him to stay between throws).

Here's Peanut, she loves disc golfing, hiking, swimming, and really anything else outside, and she's played over 100 different courses with us.

This is Ozzie, he's known for hunting squirrels and chipmunks on the courses. His nickname is skullcrusher cause that's what he does when he actually catches one. Took this pic last week across the street from my house. He knows the sound my bag makes when i pick it up to go disc. Soon as he hears it he gets fired up for some discin.

He's been with me since he was 8 weeks old. He loves to travel - great at it, too (he's been all over the country) and loves being outside.

This really is a great idea for a thread. Dogs make life worth living.

Nice, Peanut loves catching squirrels and birds (she's caught a couple that flew too close to the ground), and she definitely knows what the words "disc golf" mean. If we say that's what we're going to do, she sits by the bags until we're ready to go.

The sweetest dog I ever knew lost her battle with cancer in June. Her passing has left a hole in my heart. In memoriam, since she liked to accompany me to the disc golf course, here's a photo of her from several years ago, in her backpacking days. She is sorely missed.

I'm sorry to hear about that. It's hard to lose a best friend. I know I'll be useless for quite awhile when Otis goes. It looks like she enjoyed a cushy, happy, and fun life, though. If you believe in the afterlife, you know she'll be waiting at the gates for you with tail wagging.

Nobody likes my Basset Hound? Here name is Daisy. She is too old to go with me, but she would love to. She can only walk for so long. She slipped a disc in her back last year and lost the use of her back legs. After lots of medication from the vet, and rehabilitation, she can use her back legs again, but she can only walk for about 20 minutes and she has to be off her feet for a while. I wish she could come to the course with me, because she loves people, dogs, and especially kids. She is very social. She is 10 years old, and one of the coolest dogs I have ever had. I am so happy she got her back better, because the vet said that she might have lost the use of her legs for good. She is doing fine now, but we have to be careful with her.

I almost had to, but she is walking again. It took 3 months, but she started out by taking baby steps, and then , she would walk across the room , and she started to walk again. It was like watching a child learning to walk. She was very wobbly, and she finally got back to her old self.

As far as Bassets being head strong, they are. I had a male that I raised from a puppy, and he was a hand full. He was impossible to train. He even turned on my once and tried to bite me when I was trying to clip his nails.

Daisy on the other hand is a rescue dog. She was abandoned after Tropical Storm Allison hit Houston . She was rescued by the Basset Hound Group, and we got her from there. She is trained pretty well. She is totally house broken, and will hold it for up to 12 hours. She also will walk with out a leash around my apartment complex with out running off. She does act up every one in while and not listen, but for the most part, she is a great dog. She has a ton of personality.

i wish i still had my yelllow lab....my gf and i raised him from a pup and now hes a little over a year old....i work on pipelines and so i travel a lot..at the moment he is staying at my grandpa's house because we're in a small apt with a baby on the way, not the best place for a 115lb dog but once this lease is over im prolly goin back home and getting a house with a yard that way i can get him back....he loved to go play golf, he would sit behind the pad and wait for you to throw and then would chase the disc...he would never pick it up though, he would usually go and sit at it, or run back and forth between you and the disc like he was showing you the way....
