I was thinking about buying like 7-10 brooms for Deerfield in Mt Pleasant MI. I was not looking to spend more than $50 which I realize is extremely tight if I want 10 brooms. Some of the pads are just covered in sand and I wanted to leave a broom at each pad that is known to get sandy. Anyone have any suggestions? I was thinking about this one.

But I probably wont get them in time for the tourney this weekend. Anyone know if little chain stores have brooms for $5?

I guess I will check out meijer, walmart, home depot etc.

Looks like walmart has one for $5

but will they have 10?

Guess I didn't need to make this post but I didnt see anything about brooms.

If you're looking for cheap'nfast, check out local dollar stores...

I've heard Deerfield can get pretty nasty as far as theft and vandalism. Maybe a hook to hang a small broom on the back of tee signposts too wouldn't be a bad idea.

I would look for ones like at independence lake. Thicker bristles will hold up better and i would have a clip on the back of the posts also

For the cheapest option, hand brooms might be the best way to go.
I saw them at Taylor Park a year or two ago in Florida. Thought it was great idea. Little cheap hand brooms on hooks.

Smaller, cheaper, gets the job done.

^ These were nicely done, but...

Prolly less likely to get stolen or vandalized, too. I think it's a matter of traffic and budget.

I have seen very few brooms at courses that weren't broken. If you get them to nice then they get stolen if they're to cheap than they get broken. Brooms are lose-lose IMO unless its a private course.

Unfortunately, that's the world we live in.

I think it just depends on the community the course is a part of.

Like I said, Taylor Park in Florida had hand brooms on every hole. None were broken.
And my current home course, Bijou Community Park, has 27 holes, and 27 full size brooks. None broken.

Just depends where you are.

^O REAAAAAALLLY? It took me about 30 seconds to find this in the course pictures from Bijou

I knew you would say that. People on the internet can never admit they are wrong....

My point was that brooms get broken. People get mad and throw them, use them as a sledge hammer, and break them over their knee. I'm not denying that your course has brooms at every hole. Maybe they do today...ok. I'm saying that they get broken, in general.

You replied that..... it depends on where the course is because at my course we have brooms at every tee box, thereby implying that brooms don't get broken at your course. My picture proves, that brooms get broken at your course. Even if it was Oct 2010, what's changed?

Maybe your course caretaker replaces them when they are broken before you see them....who knows?

Who cares if they are old. Does it show there's a potential to get brooms broken at your course? Or any public course? The answer is yes.

Of course there is potential for brooms to be broken......

My point is location obviously matters. If you have a course in a crap ass neighborhood you aren't gonna want to do it.

The potential for broken brooms fluctuates on WHERE the course is located. That's the point....

You aren't gonna spend a bunch of money, when you know the area and neighborhood is sketch city

You are however going to do it where the likelihood of broken/stolen brooms is much less

I hate brooms. Really, I mean, who do they think they are? With their creepy bristles, and that awful handle, all long and skinny. Ugh, makes my skin crawl just thinking about it.
