Hey everybody. I want to pick a course to play in Ohio. It can be anywhere because I can take a trip. I plan on playing two courses so I want to see what you guys think. If you have another course besides the ones listed in the poll, let me know what they are. Thanks a lot!:)

Since you're asking DGCR members, and this list* is the summation of past/current DGCR reviewers... it'll be interesting to see how things shake out. Let the fun begin!

1) Deis Hill Park Dover, OH
2) Handyman Ace Hardware DGC Fairborn , OH
3) Mt. Airy Forest Cincinnati, OH
4) Pike Lake State Park Bainbridge, OH
5) Forked Run State Park Reedsville, OH
6) Roscoe Ewing Park Medina, OH
7) Brent Hambrick Memorial DGC Columbus, OH
8) Flat Rocks DGC Lancaster, OH
9) Lincoln Park (Oak Ledges DGC) Massillon, OH
10) Arboretum-Spiker Park Canton, OH
11) Belmont Park Dayton, OH
12) Simsbury DGC Pickerington, OH
13) Gordon Holton Memorial DGC Delaware, OH
14) Paint Creek State Park Bainbridge, OH
15) Monroe Community Park Monroe, OH
16) Englewood MetroPark DGC Englewood, OH
17) Lake Shore Park Ashtabula, OH
18) Lobdell Reserve DGC Alexandria, OH
19) Recreation Park Bryan, OH
20) Sims Park Disc Golf Euclid, OH
21) Hocking College DGC Nelsonville, OH
22) Friends of Punderson DGC Newbury, OH
23) Portage Lakes DGC Akron, OH
24) Mary Rutan DGC Bellefontaine, OH
25) Sycamore Trails DGC Miamisburg, OH

Personally, I think # 20 is overrated, but I really liked 6, 7, and 13, and think 17 is underrated.
But I don't think I've played enough on OH to say how they should rank within the entire state.

The best course in Ohio is in Kentucky. Try Mt Airy, Osage Grove is supposed to be great and don't miss Idlewyld in Burlington Kentucky.

I've played 5 of those above, and Gordon Holton is my favorite. Lots of variety and beautiful in the fall.

I need to redo my review of Roscoe. I need to drop it down a bit. There was an unfortunate decision causing hole 8 and 9 to go away and to me, it messed up the flow and some how the charm of the course. There has been an obvious attempt to compensate, but it just feels different.

Maybe I am just overly sentimental though; since it was the first course I played, but I'm sure that played a part in how high I rated it to begin with so don't see where it would be a problem now.

I need to revisit the other ones again, but Arboretum Strikers seems like it should be further up on that list.

This x1000. Hit up the Cincy area and enjoy a couple top notch courses. I'm not sure what part of Ohio you're from, but most of the courses around Columbus are boring, and there's nothing at all in NW Ohio. I'm not sure about courses on NE Ohio. The terrain would lend itself to good courses, but I've got friends in Cleveland who don't like too many of the courses around them.

I'd probably go Osage if I had to choose just one. Mt. Airy, Handyman, Monroe are some great honorable mentions. I'm sure I could easily name off some other great courses. A big plus with Mt. Airy is the great pro shop as well as being close to Idlewild and Lincoln Ridge.

If you're planning a trip around disc, Cincy is DEFINITELY the place to go. However, if you're asking my favorite courses in OH, my top 3 are Hambrick, Holton and Roscoe

What is the best course in Ohio
Deis Hill Park
Forked Run State Park
Handyman Ace Hardware DGC
Pike Lake State Park
Mt. Airy Forest
Other(Post which course you like best)

only played deis out of those choices and i gave it rated it a 5. completely awesome course but only if you enjoy very open and very long courses.

I'd have to go with Osage at Goshen. I like the terrain and the birding. The last 3 evenings I've been there, I've spotted an owl that hangs out on fairway 8. Once this course is finished, it will be a top course in the state let alone the greater Cincinnati area.

Maybe I'm jaded a little already, coming from Cincinnati, and love Osage Grove already, too. But I've played 14 of the 25 courses in the above list, and keep thinking: only one at a time?

If I were just north of the Columbus area, I'd play Brent Hambrink and Gordon Holton again. South of there, I'd play Flat Rocks and Great Seal again. Sweep a little west from there, and hit up Paint Creek and Pike Lake again. See where I'm going with this? :p

I've lived here for 38 years and have only played 4 of the top 25

As many people have noted, heading to Cincy for the Big 3 (4 if you count Osage Grove) is a wonderful trip. Having said that, I've had just as much fun heading up to the Akron/Canton area for their version of the Big 4:
1. Deis Hill
2. Arboretum-Spiker
3. Lincoln Park / Oak Ledges
4. Roscoe Ewing

Deis and Arboretum are probably the best all-around courses and certainly the place to go if you want to air it out. I agree with some of the comments about Roscoe as the loss of holes 8 and 9 is a real bummer. It wasn't too long ago (before these holes were gone and before the bike path was built through the center) that I might have considered Roscoe the best course in Ohio. Bonus points for being the original home course of Wysocki and Jenkins!

Having said all of that, my personal favorite in the state is Lincoln Park / Oak Ledges. It is a beautiful little park with a great combo of tall trees, big rocks, and challenging elevation changes. It does not have any long open holes for the bombers so it will never be considered among 'the best', but I'd rank it at the very top for being a favorite course to play.

I've driven across Ohio at least once a year for 22 years now plus now visit Cincy annually, Deis Hill and Spiker-A would top my list. Honorable mention...My Airy.

I've hit em all and my favorite Ohio course is Hocking College. I was surprised it was only ranked number 21. But I'm a nature guy. Goshen should be on the list as well

You definitely gotta go to either the Cincinnati area or the Canton/Akron area. Either one of those locations and you'll have some awesome disc golfing.
