I just don't get it...so many guys play this sport while drinking beer. Not only does it not quench your thirst, it will make you play worse as well. Not banging on Beer, I love me some steak and cold lime beer ;) just don't understand the mentality to play this sport while downing some brewskies. lol..

The real question is why not? especially if it's a casual round. I don't know who you're playing with that get worse when enjoying beer, but it seems to help me and a few of my buddies out.

I don't drink on the course, but have been known to enjoy before and after.

:hfive:  Nice first post, by the way.

It's an important subject! :D

Beer does make most people play worse.

I agree with you.

It all boils down to the purpose of playing. Some people take the sport incredibly serious, some do it as a hobby, and some (like myself) do a bit of both. Two beers isn't going to completely destroy a middle-aged man's ability to throw a plastic disc properly, not with the amount of beer we're used to drinking.

I don't really enjoy drinking while golfing, but I still do it occasionally in casual rounds. One or two beers outdoors with some friends is fine by me.

I don't, however, understand people who put away a 6-pack (or more) in a round. But whatever.

Lime Beer, and steak are not a very manly combo. Actually lime beer is anything but manly.

And the people that drink are play are just trying to have a better more relaxing time. Chances are that they are not out there to compete.

Corona with a lime slice, not so bad. Straight up lime beer=bleaugh  :gross:

Football Sunday will surely be less primal now knowing that. :(

I guess it's more surprising when they drink and wonder out loud what's wrong with their game. lol...

That would be quite amusing, funny how they can't put 2 and 2 together

2 beers isnt going to see a significant effect on a persons cognitive ability and fine motor skills. play worse? i could argue you, it calms down some people and they play better. now if your chugging a 6 pack of pounders, yeah your going to play worse. 2 beers are not going to impact your game that much. plus you can still legally drive after 2.

Putting with beer= crap
Putting with sober= ok
Putting with flowers= best

Honestly I just feel so unbalanced-lazy with beer.

when .08 is the legal limit those 2 beers are cutting it real close.

Not to mention 2 micro brews with a solid AV% and you're on the way to feeling pretty good. While I don't give a crap what people want to do on the course I don't think this kind of mentality is a good one about drinking.

thrembo doesn't always drink while plays, but when he does, its other peoples!

Thanks y'all for all of the free beers over the years!

Thank you Aim for posting what I was about to.

Edit: I do give a crap what you do on the course. And I'm not alone. One or two beers, assuming it's legal to drink on the course, is fine. Any more and your asking for trouble.

It's all about mentality. When I want to focus and play well, I can't drink. It kills my mental game. Even one beer is enough to take away a little bit of my focus, which leads to careless shots into nearby trees.

When I'm just having a good time playing with friends, I enjoy having a beer or two during.
