What DG company would you work for?

Disc golf company or disc golf business? If it can be a business I would work for High Bridge Hills Sports Complex and Nature Retreat. Working as few hours as I could.

If it had a be a disc maker it would be Innova, I would take over for Dave Dunipace's. That should pay a decent amount and if it didn't as company president I would give myself a raise.

maybe I should have made the post about which company would you like to support? from the sounds of it, Innova and DD are companies so far that appeal to what I would like I see as family friendly, very community oriented and drug free = )

Start your own. Apparently, you don't even need seed money, or a loan, or anything.... just a website and preorders.

I don't think that any DG company could compete salary/benefits package wise like my current job.

Innova would probably be the only one who would actually be able to pay me a comparable wage to what I'm at now.

Plus I'm not sure most DG companies need a CPA internally.

If I could work something out with Lat64 that has me in Sweden for part of the year then that is my first choice. A lot of my favorite bands are from Sweden and I'd love to be able to see them live. The actual job would be a bonus.

I would work for Latitude. I like the way they mold their discs. I like their goals as a company. I like the fact that two other companies use their processes to mold. I did a stint as a plastic molder so I could work the presses. I could easily be convinced to play golf in Sweden all summer then return to America in the fall and winter and sell discs for them. I could do this return every year, for life.

Tomas, if you are reading this, consider this as a job application ;-)

Frisbee, I'm sure they rake in tons of dough, even these days. People desiring money could work there :)

Discraft... so I wouldn't have to move.
Or Lat 64... so I could.

None of them. I don't think any DG company can afford to pay what I would consider an acceptable salary.
Not to mention that they couldn't come close to the benefits and opportunities for career advancement I have at my current company. Small business is great, but I prefer the security of working for a larger corporation.

Not only that I like to separate work and play. I am an avid amateur photographer, and have been told by many people that I should consider going into business selling my work. I reject that notion because getting out in nature and taking pictures at a relaxing pace is my way of getting away from work. Hustling to line up photo shoots with models and for senior pictures and weddings so that I can pay the bills while selling a few nature scenes here and there just doesn't sound appealing. Working for a disc golf company sounds like another way to be a starving artist.

Working for any disc golf related venture full time would seem like a great way to mix business with pleasure.

In other words, no thanks.

Hi scarpfish...I have a job for you in marketing. We want to grow the sport. Your job would be to target families. Would you like to work for me?

Well, if money was no object I'd choose to work for Infinite Discs. Even though I've yet to meet Kirk and Alan, I've been a patron and reviewer since their humble beginnings and I have a great rapport with the crew. They are great guys and have an awesome family - friendly business. It helps that we see eye to eye on most issues, even though I am certainly more outspoken about disc golf issues.

I don't know if I'd actually be able to work for a manufacturer, as I think I would always be trying to put my two cents into their disc molds and they'd get tired of me right quick.

But if working for Hucker has taught me one thing, it's that disc golf is still too small to support a ton of employees in any aspect of the disc golf world. Hopefully that changes with the rapid growth of our game.

just to mention it when I can...Hucker pretty much just took my money for nothing and that in itself wouldn't encourage me to work for them or even promote them

Offer me $60K a year with a 401K, matching funds, life insurance, full medical and dental and I'll think about it.

Unless the "targeting families" involves flying projectiles. Then I might bite at $55K and bail money.

The first issue turned put great from what I heard. I was supposed to get a few copies for helping them with editing and writing. Haven't shown up yet. Oh well. Like I said, disc golf just isn't big enough to support things like that.

I will go to my grave insisting the folks at Hucker didn't do anything maliciously and are not scam artists. They were just trying to do something they loved and It got away from them.

What's amazing is how many disc golf related companies are still in business. There are so many great discs to choose from now, which is another reason that I'd love to work for a retailer like Infinite Discs...discounts on plastic, baby!

Yes innova and dd are drug free companies. All the other companies are filled with druggies. Who do drugs all day and dont get any work done.

Whichever one will pay me, reasonably.

same. i'd kill to work for a dg company even if it wasn't great pay. if i could live off of it, i'd bust my ass just as hard as i do now working 13 hour shifts at a landscaping company except i'd be able to appreciate being around something i love.

that said, i think axiom/mvp would be fun to work for. if i had to choose a branch i'd go axiom.

I was not speaking to the claim of family friendliness but only to the statements that no one is making a decent living in the industry. But I can say that I have been to Innova East many, many times and I can assure you that that company is as wholesome and family friendly as they come. It truly has a family owned and operated feel to it for sure because that is what it is. The guys that run that business day to day are salt of the earth good people. One of them posts on here quite often as well.

Agree with you wholeheartedly.
