This is one part of my game that really frustrates me. I had it nailed with a perfectly worn in Star Destroyer. That is until I lost it. Now nothing I have seems to get me anything near what I want.

What do you use into that wide open 20+mph headwind?

And if someone is going to chastize or berate me because this is a subject of previous threads, well then BITE ME! :p

pretty much anything overstable and heavy will work. For the distance you're saying you normally throw, I'd suggest a predator as something good for now, and a crush or force as something to grow into.

The starfire is my go to driver in all conditions ,and its the way it handles the wind that makes it that.

The Orc and EagleX are good choices as well for when you want a little turn but enough fade to come back in the wind.

I agree on the Starfire and I also like the Avenger and Destroyer for windy days and if it gets really bad out comes the MAX.

For max distance into a headwind, I'd throw a Z Force. If I just want to make sure it's not going to flip, I'd probably throw a Z Predator.

it all depends on how hard you throw really..you could get 20 different answers from 20 different players. starfire doesn't do much for me but turnover in a headwind, while an xcalibur is good and a monster is the extreme(i KNOW it won't turn over). basically, you have to go up the stability scale to get the desired flight path for that certain wind. I.E. if a "beat" destroyer was working for you, then you need to get your hands on a bunch of 'em!! or try something close on the stability charts. good luck, the wind CAN be your friend.

I use an ESP Force right now and I just make sure I throw with a little hyzer. I would also use a Champ Boss (use my buddy's every now and then) and I'm about to get a predator that should be a hoss in the wind

Most of my "headwind" problems are in my head. I tend to over think it. However when I just grip it and rip it I tend to get better drives.

throw a firebird, a predator, a force, anything, like these guys have already said, thats is verry overstable, or if your good at throwing sidearm, a 173+ Z flick, they are amazing!

I've got a Flick, but it's a little on the lightside. 169g. Looks like this weekend I'll get an opportunity to give these recommendations a shot. Unfortunately most of my drivers are on the lighter side. I do have a heavy Avenger, 174g. That might work. I've never found any other use for it.

I've got a buddy who uses a 150 Flick in a head wind and makes it work. That makes sense on the over stable side and speed side but 150g?

the 174 avenger should be good as a headwind disc. You generally want to go heavier into a headwind because it tends to make your disc float higher, and the heavier the disc, the less the headwind will make it rise.

this is a pretty good article on how to play the wind in different situations:

Thanks for the link. Very informative. Now if I can remember when I get out there.

FH and big headwinds I use a Star Xcal or Max. The Flick would also be a good one. Heavier the better. I don't like the Predator FH, but BH it is awesome in a big headwind.
