2016 Pro Worlds

What'd they say? I didn't watch any. But I'm guessing you are overreacting.

Wasn't anything worse than any other social media chat room. If a spammer popped up or there were sexist attacks or vulgar language, the mods blocked them and deleted their comments. Otherwise, the chat consisted of fast-moving, lively discussions focused on the action, the tournament, the broadcast and other things like LSU football, weather, etc.

If disc golf doesn't make it big, it's not gonna be because of the content in the chat rooms of live tournament broadcasts.

No, definitely not overreacting. Its pretty horrible what they say in the chat about the FPO players. Like catcalling, only worse because the girl's cant actually hear what you are saying.

Can someone elaborate on how Worlds works? I am new to DG and am used to the regular tournaments of 3 rounds and the winner (Ricky at this point) wins and that is it. What is this "semi finals" and "finals". Top "X" amount of people make it to semis so Ricky being 6 shots ahead is irrelevant?

I'd be happy to. There is a cut after the preliminary rounds and only the top 72 competitors will continue playing. All players that make the semi's play a full 18 hole round. Then an additional cut occurs and only the top 4 competitors in each division play the finals, which is 9 holes. Scores are still cumulative for the whole event, so Ricky will maintain whatever lead he builds in preliminary play.

Tilting the disc can most definitely change the lie.

No, because the lie is established when the disc comes to rest in 802.02, the fact that someone moves it doesn't change the lie at all.

If the thrown disc has moved after it first came to rest on the in-bounds playing surface, it shall be replaced to its approximate position. If it first came to rest elsewhere, the disc need not be replaced, and any determinations are made relative to where it first came to rest.

I didn't think I was over reacting to some of the things that popped up, some tasteless comments about the FPO players got by the mods.

Disc golf has made it big corin, that doesn't change the nature of the live chat.

McBeth better put on his big boy pants tomorrow.

Agreed. McBeth has made comebacks in the past, and did so this year in Europe as well. But Ricky Wysocki has had his eye on this World Championship tournament all year long. He is focused like a laser beam. THIS is the one he wants.

IMHO McBeth needed to make a move today, and show something. But he didn't. He fell further behind. I did not see the fire in McBeth that I've seen in the past, especially when he's about to catch up. On the other hand, one could almost feel the willpower and the heat from Wysocki right through the live stream broadcast.

I'm not counting out McBeth, but I'm not (yet) seeing the true McBeast out there. IMHO Round 4 is moving day... McBeast shows up or Wysocki is going to run away with this thing...

I was on the board today and didn't see every comment but most of the things said were not that bad. These PC people have thin skin. You hurt my feelings. People need to toughen up. We are a nation of Wussies with a P. So tired of hearing people whine and cry about nothing

First time is a warning, so there will be no penalty strokes. Ricky and Paul are jawing about it; Ricky says his disc was marked, but "faintly"; McBeth is ticked because they didn't self-call. Devan did admit his disc was not marked.

No, it should have been a 2 stroke penalty per rule 801.02 E & F.:

E. A player who throws an illegal disc during play shall receive two penalty throws, without a warning. A player who repeatedly throws an illegal disc during the round may be subject to disqualification in accordance with Section 3.3 of the PDGA Competition Manual.

F. All discs used in play, except mini marker discs, must be uniquely marked. A player shall receive a warning for the first instance of throwing an unmarked disc. Each subsequent throw by the player with an unmarked disc shall incur one penalty throw.

Then it should have been a warning for the first offense, per (F) above. The discs weren't illegal, just not marked.

I think the proximity of these two rules in the book indicates that an unmarked disc is illegal. Therefore, no warning.

No, no no no no. The whole point of 801.02F is to differentiate between an Illegal disc and and Unmarked disc. If an unmarked disc were illegal, 802.02F would say exactly that.

Just wondering, if neither disc was marked and identical in everyway and they couldn't see where they landed, ie: no way to know which disc is whose. Shouldn't they both be treated as lost discs? are they allowed by the rules to just decide between them which disc is in fact theirs?

Thank you sir!
