[Latitude] River Pro

So I got a chance to try one yesterday. It flew like a nice stable Teebird to me. Not sure about the distance, maybe a touch shorter than I expected, but I did throw it before the round I played so not terribly warmed up. But the flight path was exactly what I expected, gave it maybe a little hyzer but closer to flat and it flew very straight with a healthy fade. I saw some guys with bigger arms than me throw very long straight throws with no turn, that had a nice fade at the end. Nothing too dumpy but it definitely finished left. From the few throws I got to take and the ones I saw, this is going to be incredibly popular and will probably be a disc of the year candidate (considering it is a workhorse fairway driver, great plastic, and Trilogy, which always gets out the votes)

Would you said a river pro and a river would pair up well for a combo workhorse drivers?

Have you thrown a Rival in Icon and Pinnacle and can compare the two molds?

Phenom is awesome - flies like the older Eagle-L mold. Heard them called longer Patriots as well.

My Phenom has a bit more turn than my Star Eagle-L. I also have a Patriot, which is a bit more understable, and I expect will season in to even more understabilty as I use it a lot more.

Never thrown a River, but I would think so. Until you beat in a River Pro, there may be a gap right in the middle unless you can find a very stable River. Really, I can just say that this is a very stable disc (not felon overstable, but it should not turn for anyone except those with the biggest arms, and may not for them either)

I throw Pinnacle Rivals as my workhorse, and I have some that are less stable than this and some that are equally stable. If a Firebird is generally a 10 on stability scale, I would rate this about a 7 or 8 with 5 being a basically neutral disc.

As far as the feel compared with the Rival, I would say it is extremely similar and also looks very similar. I did not get a chance to put them next to each other though. Just as a frame of reference, I throw my Rival around 335/340, so if your throws are a good bit longer, you may see more difference than I did in my limited time throwing this so far.

I would say Im in no hurry to get one, but I am playing a TC in 4 weeks so I'll have to see what I get. Seems like the stability is quite different from some people. I'll be playing three rounds with it so I'll be throwing it quite a bit.

Yes! Thank you, my wish coming true. Hope to bag 3 River pro as my FD's, now I have to get in on that trilogy challenge...

Best Trilogy Challenge lineup of discs yet. I really liked all the discs and would definitely bag all three if I did not already have discs I like slightly better and have multiple backup for. Deputy will probably go in my bag until I can beat in a Judge to be super understable.

This disc is definitely overstable. Like a fresh star teebird. I've never thrown a 2nd run FD, but this flies just like I've seen them described (tons of glide, HSS, and a reliable forward fade). I don't think it will find a spot in my bag, as I have thunderbirds that will cover the shots that I would use the river pro on, but I can see a lot of people turning to this disc as a workhorse.

Thanks for the info. Looking at the Marshall Street Flight Guide, one can see that there are really no Trilogy discs competing in that Teebird/Eagle area. Big gap between the very OS discs and the US discs like the River. So the River Pro is intended to fill that gap, it would appear.

Having said that, I think the Legacy Icon Phenom is going to fill the role I originally hoped the River Pro would. The Phenom is straight flying: starts out with a bit of turn then fades back. My Champion TL will take over the relatively OS duties.

First reports I have call it inconsistent. Even against those of similar weight, some were straight, others overstable.

All of the ones I saw yesterday were beefy.

For everyone who wanted a Trilogy Teebird, you now have it. Unforrunately, it is more like the current run of champ teebirds: overstable and with very little glide and a plus rim.

Thanks, but I will stick with Rivals.

That is why I had so much success with it. It flew like my overstable Rivals. I just put a little anny on it and it flew awesome and straight.

Just to be specific, I got a White 175. Not sure if that means anything, but plastic color and weight can make a difference sometimes.

Threw the River Pro at the trilogy challenge today. I throw RHBH. The River Pro was pretty overstable. It didn't have much glide and wanted to sink like a brick. I wasn't a fan. I really liked the Pine, for me it flew further than the River Pro. I can see it working it's way into my bag.

Like banshee Overstable? Or more like an OS teebird?

Im liking the sound of the stability, but not the lack of glide...whats the point of calling it a River Pro if it doesnt have mad glide?

I'm surprised at how many people are calling it glide less. I thought it had a good amount of glide for as overstable as it flew. More glide than the FD2 I normally bag.

So river pro is a crappy sequel to the river....

Remind me of the saint/saint pro incident.
