Manager, Regulatory Compliance Consultant for Financial Services for a Big 4 Accounting Firm. Specialities are BSA/AML/OFAC, Volcker Rule, advisory, testing and audit and the ABCs of Regulations (I have heard a few Executive Management people refer to people like me as "the alphabet people")
Live in Mt Pleasant, SC but work out of Charlotte, NC office

Wow, I didn't expect this thread to grow so much! It's wonderful seeing the huge location and age span, as well as, how may different professions our community has. Almost like we could all band together and form our own company. haha One thing I'm not surprised at is the lack of Business Analysts or corporate workers. I didn't think there would be. Been in a corporate gig for 3 years now and it seems pretty stuffy. Your normal work, watch TV, and sleep kind of people.

Slide disc golf in there, and I'm not far off.

Cargo Claim Analyst for large corporation
Lawrence, KS commutes to Kansas City.

Only way I get through the day in this cube farm is reading DGCoursereview, scanning FB for disc golf news, watch eBay items, plan next DG tournaments. I've tried to escape two times before and keep getting sucked back into it (corporate job).

If you add in youtube tourney videos on my second monitor, you just described every single day of work for me.

Of course it's mostly old people here, young people are on... "Hey 13 year old son, where do young people hang out?". Snapchat. Okay, he really said, "Anywhere old people don't go."

Which career?

PhD, researcher in molecular genetics 12 years
MBA, IT manager, 10 years
Hide in office and manage electronic document system, 7 years
Writer, cripes, that one is a bust. Do you get to call ourself a writer if you've been editing for five years?
Next career, researching welding equipment, although my wife wants me to teach

Acquired skills, grumpy old man before my time

Bearing in mind that it's not a representative sample; just people willing to answer. The "still in my Mom's basement" contingent is quiet. Or lying.

It is quite interesting to put a few more human details to some familiar DGCR names.
