[Question] What is this disc worth (Part V)?

It is a shame that first run valks and other awesome old discs that happen to be in dx plastic don't fetch more.

Think about it, why is an unthrown first run star destroyer worth more than an unthrown first run leopard? You aren't going to throw either one. So is the destroyer worth more because it would make a good thrower but has been collector kept instead?

I know that value on used discs is driven mostly by demand, but I don't quite understand the lack of demand for cool really old dx stuff in good shape.

Always felt the same way. I personally love the old circle stamps. I don't collect but those are to me way better wall hangers than Protostars.

Fine by me, I'm not really a collector. Just scored a lightly used first run eagle for $4 at playnit again. Great thrower and I don't feel bad about throwing it. It does seem silly though, with the exception of really old aviars DX isn't very valuable.

What about values for a new Omega Supersoft 1.15, both in stock stamp and a custom course stamp? Original Wings and Rings ROC, 21.2mm. Ca 1989.

Lots of value questions, been throwing since early 80's, PDGA# < 3000. Selling collection of over 500 discs.

Looking for info on these OOP runs. All 10/10, never thrown:
Early/1st run "Bubble Top" (bubbles in flight plate) Blizzard Boss, 138g - 154g
Early/1st run "Bubble Top" (bubbles in flight plate) F2 Blizzard Boss, 150g - 158g
Early/1st run "Bubble Top" (bubbles in flight plate) F2 Blizzard Wraith 145g - 155g

Thanks

Are older discs of higher value because they are collector's pieces, or because people want an older disc to throw? If both, which is more common, collector's piece or to throw?

I ask because I have inherited over 50 discs, and while most are in excellent shape, some even un-thrown, the previous owner wrote numbers on the undersides in black marker (presumably from Joe's flight chart and some notes). I'd assume this would kill any collector's piece value, thus negating my need to seek pricing here, lol.

It really depends on the disc. Some discs have collector value as "wall hangers" to some of the older crowd. Those are typically older discs that aren't really useable in today's game. Those would definitely be affected by having ink on them. Some discs have value just as an investment. Unthrown "Champion Edition" "Ken Climo World Champ" or "star stamp" first runs are an example. Any ink or wear from use would drastically affect the value of those. But, some of those I just mentioned still have value as throwers. For example, a CE Teebird/Eagle/Leopard can still draw $30-$60 apiece depending on weight, wear, ink and/or color. Pics would help of course. Also, knowing what the plastics you have are would.

Plastics...

Translucent: Discraft Z, Innova Champion(not to be confused with "champion edition"). These are the most durable. Also, if you happen to have a tbird that says KC Pro, it may be translucent. Some "champion edition" discs are opaque and some can be translucent, also.

There are multiple kinds of non see thru plastics. Innova has Star, Pro, DX(and a couple others, but I'm guessing most of your discs are older?)Star is the most durable of these but some Pro discs can be worth money if they have the Ken Climo stamp.

Discraft has ESP, X and ProD. ESP is similar to Star. Discraft discs don't typically gain a lot in value except for a couple specific discs and plastics. If any of your Buzzz have "Wasp" engraved under the rim or say "super straight modified Wasp", those are worth some. Or if you have a Buzzz with a 10th anniversary stamp...

Well, here it goes. Any of these worth trying to sell ... or should I just go ahead and throw them when I get past the discs I start with and/or lose one? I guess to make it worth the hassle of mailing I'm thinking a disc would have to be $25+ for me to deal with going that route.

Quite a few of those are worth selling. If you do decide to go that route I will gladly buy that Firebird from you. I'm not sure on value these days as I've been out of the buying/selling game for a while. But you have a nice chunk of change sitting there that's for sure

Since somebody asked about the Cheetah's....here are some closeups in case anyone has a pricing idea. The spots on the side profile are reflections of hanging light, not knicks in the disc.

I'd guess they are a 9-ish.

Definitely have some nice gems in there. I used to stockpile a few of those to throw but sold off most years ago. There is a "sleepy scale" guide to determine a Discs universal condition. It is a good way to determine if a disc is worth selling. discgolfsweden website is also a good source. eBay is a crapshoot in figuring value. Some bin offers are a stretch and some sellers have no clue. Good luck

Went looking for that discgolfsweden but it is no longer around? https://www.dgcoursereview.com/forums/showthread.php?p=3280984#post3280984

^yea I was thinking the same thing about that Eagle too. Its a bright enough pink around the edges to maybe make it not too hard to find.

Don't worry Weather, there are a couple guys that really know prices around here. Just might not have been on...

Ok, I sent a couple pics to a friend of mine who was active on dollar disc auctions until about a year ago, so these prices might be slightly off. He said you should be able to get at least $25 for the Green Cheetah depending on who sees it. Those scuffs and the ink knock it down some. The blue Pro Firebird should be at least $30 and maybe more if the right guy sees that don't mind the weight. But he said that cause its a candy pro it shouldn't matter too much.
