Closet bigot? Seriosly? There is no closet involved. There are better ways to communicate than the old terms.
Conciously using less hurtful language seems like a legitimate goal. I am stubborn, but still try to be better than my past.
To portray yourself as a victim because you are unwilling to try? That's awful impolite.

I'm triggered by your politically incorrect naked child avatar. Are you a Catholic priest?

I like playing against older golfers.. It makes me feel younger against those freeloaders... free hips, free knees, free pension, free bowels. It's all free after 70 I hear..

Death is especially free. It just comes for you when yer old. You don't have to earn it like mimillenials on a Darwin Award bender.

Obligatory to post here:

So I started back when i was in Fifth grade, about when I was 11 years old. I had a noodle arm back then so I learned with a dx dragon, dx cobra and a xsoftapx. Basically I was a noodle arm when i was learning, but there weren't many options to throw at the time, so the max speed discs I and a few others were throwing with were at most speed 12, most of us had no need for something speed 14 like some of the discs made nowadays. My range on an open field hole where i can bomb it the farthest Ive gotten was estimated at 390-400ft on a massive hyzer with a 162 gram star destroyer. Most players my age that arent competitive can't really throw far unless they really commit. However commitment that I once had I no longer have and I don't have as much time to train as I used to, Always thinking I would be a competitive, high ranked pro player.

Also you old guys, let faster players through pls :D

My pet peeves is millennials who ignore thread titles.

Polite does not equal Politically Correct. Far from it.

Politically Correct is just new bigots with new targets. Like homophobes, mostly the PC crowd is the closet bigots that try to demonize others so fewer will notice just how much of a bigot they are themselves.

Continue being polite, but don't associate with the closet bigots.

That is not what politically correct means. From Merriam Webster "politically correct adjective
Definition of politically correct
: conforming to a belief that language and practices which could offend political sensibilities (as in matters of sex or race) should be eliminated"

There is nothing bigoted about believing that offensive language should be eliminated.

Good luck with that tomahawk throwing as you get older pal! I know a couple of guys a few years younger than me (I'm 61) that have had bad problems with their rotator cuffs and shoulders in general from throwing it too much. They now play MUCH less disc golf as a result of the problems they caused themselves.

Truth! I dare say that most geezers don't go to a forehand, not because they chose not to, but because they cannot or should not. With age comes wisdom.

Hey remember back before discs had flight ratings? Let alone the concept of speed ratings?

You'd buy a disc, throw the disc and no matter how it flew for you you would keep throwing that disc..

Someone else said it, I read it... but back before we had the Internet for pictures and video.. Back when it took 5 -15 minutes to download a JPEG.. There was nothing to learn from other than people that you would meet on the course. Technique was not widely shared and we just lumped it out best we could. Maybe you subscribed to a DG magazine...

Disc golf was simpler then.... We were doing it wrong but it was simpler..

I voted crowds, don't care about the age just too many dang people.

I almost voted the 14 yr old throwing further, but heck, everyone throws further than I do.

I have a serviceable forehand, but I do limit the number of FH drives or I'll feel it the next day.

If I could throw overhand I'd still be playing water polo lol. Yeah I remember when I had a rotator cuff . . .

Just finished a round at Fritz Park and as I was packing up there was an old guy - using his frickin CANE - to slowly walk his way over to the first tee with a few discs in a plastic grocery sack.

At 46 myself, my first thought was "seriously?!?" but on the drive home I realized that I actually would like to be that guy, out there at 9am on a Tuesday 30-40 years from now.

Yesterday, on the first tee of a new to me course, a pleasant young man asked my crotchety self and my culturally out of date playing partner whether we used the Udisc app. I, with a smile, told him our behavior was age appropriate so, no, we do not. The comment drew a laugh from him. I and my friend then proceeded to stumble through the woods looking for teepads.

Correct. Your generation isn't important enough yet to have a label :|

:D

Gen tide pod is the prevalent label so far(or gen z) I'm sure we we find a better one soon.

I'm a millennial but this thread has entertained me greatly. Due to sports injuries I sympathize with your aches and pains. If any of you old guys have a source on affordable knee ligaments let me know lol.

Yup... we got our tournament coming.. Memorial day long weekend.. Unfortunately that American holiday has lined up with our May 24 long weekend or whatever we call it.. (Drink a 24..). I am already dreading the cluster**** that's going to happen on our course. That's one of the reasons it's supposed to be the weekend after our long weekend.. The other is Dan& Frank and also Kevin and the Package Express boys that come up from US and have come up for 20yrs+..

Bah there's going to be over 200 players and now all the long weekend crowds.. Might need a helmet for that one.

*BTW dropping the word "millennial" is a great way to bug them young whippersnappers.. No one wants to be a millennial and they will argue fiercely even if they are..

In response to the initial question, the proliferation of "courses". I appreciate the enthusiasm, but randomly placed mismatched baskets with poor tee pads in a dense forest does not a course make. My bag doesn't include a sheath for my survival knife and a holster for my flare gun.
