Denver, CO November

Just got my travel details, I'll be in Denver (near the airport) for a week in November for training. I don't know that I'll have a lot of free time in daylight hours, but if you had to pick one or two courses on that side of town to hit, what would they be? (Assuming it's not a dumping blizzard that week, who knows...). Not a huge park golf fan, prefer woods golf. But anything that shows off the local biome/terrain is cool.

If you're going to be close to DIA, and short on time, I would recommend Adams Hollow which isn't too far from the airport.

I agree, Adams Hollow is the only course in the area where you'll find a good number of trees. I would also pop down to Dry Dock Brewery to grab some beer and a quick 9 hole round at their small course. Most Denver courses are pretty flat and set in parks (the others near you Green Valley Ranch, Centre Hills and Expo are all like this)

Thanks guys. I see there are some super legit courses waaay the other side of town. Unless I manage to get an extra travel day that drive is not gonna happen so Adams Hollow looks like the one.

They look awesome. It will just depend on what time my simulator stuff is on day 4 and 5...if I have a late evening or an early morning I could go for it. If it's midday I'll be hosed.

No option to take a weekend day before or after? I've bagged a lot of courses the weekend before/after a work trip. Pay for my hotel and rental car, of course.

Pack your understable discs to account for the elevation change, less turn and more fade when playing up there. If you want to really see what Colorado has to offer you have to venture out of Denver and into the foothills. If you can swing it I would make the time to drive out to Beaver/Bailey area. If you cant swing it then prepare for some mostly open park style golf.

I didn't mention it because you said you were short on time, but Prickly Pines is a great woods course and just under an hour from DIA. Definitely NOT a Park course.

Update: first two days I'm in class 8AM-5PM, but the next 3 days it's 330AM-830AM. I'll have lots of daylight to go check out courses, but might be a total zombie.

It's not close to the Airport side of town but I dropped by Flygreen when I lost a Comet and had to replace it short notice. Nice selection of discs and Village Greens is just down the street, but there are almost no trees on the Village Greens course. Here's a link to the shop.

Got 9 holes at Dry Dock in last night. Played like crap, slipped in the mud, and it's not an awesome course. But ya can't go wrong with beer, DG, and pizza all in one location.

Have a late start tomorrow so hoping to get up early and get a round in at Adams Hollow in the morning.

Adams Hollow was fun. Squeezed in 2 rounds. It's a pretty fun course for a rec player like me.

Thanks for the video link, poor guy is gonna have nightmares after that. Played Expo years ago in some similar winds and it was painful. Those Colorado winds are no joke.

I've noticed the winds are much stronger, and more frequent than when I moved here in 94'.

It's always fun when you show up to play, and the chains are all rattling in the wind.
