Worst Conditions Played

this weekend we played it was 32 degrees and very windy. course was soggy. the discs were flying crazy places and we had a great time laughing at it all.

I played in a tournament last year with the temperature at 34 degrees with 25 to 30 mph winds. Just as everyone was finishing the first round, it started to rain. Then, when the second round did start, it began to sleet, rain AND snow, all at the same time with the same temperature and winds. Needless to say we all were cold and wet by the time it was done. I was smart and brought a rain jacket which helped a lot, but it didn't stop the cold.

Sounds just like our 1st tourney last year in the South Carolina Points series. Except we didn't get any sleet, just COLD rain, then on the drive back home we did hit some sleet/snow. Worst thing though is that it is on a ball golf course, so it's wide open. With winds like that you really miss the trees to block the wind, but in the same respect, you don't have to worry that the wind will carry you into any trees.

Played Saturday at Wilson-Tuscarora SP. It hadn't started the real snow yet. But it was bitter cold and the wind chill was in the negative numbers. It was fun. Military issue polypropelene long johns!!! But I know we played in worst weather.

Actually I prefer that blustery weather to the 90+ temps with 90+ humidity like we had in Florida 2 summers ago.

Snowed like crazy Sunday. Over 2 feet where I live, finally. We were gonna play on Monday, but I pulled my lower back muscle shovelling. :( All tolled we got almost 3 feet. Bought some chaulk line chaulk and now I'm all set for next weekend. Another frigid blast coming my way.

I played in an Ice Bowl last Feb on a mostly open course. There was about 3 inches of snow on the ground, the temperature was about 25 degrees, wind was howling at 20-30 mph, and snow was coming in heavy.....it was falling horizontal. I'm glad I had my ski goggles that day!

I would have to be in the camp that the worst conditions I've played in were in July. I played Winthrop Lakefront for the first time then. It was over 90 before 10 am, and the humidity was way up there too. And did I mention that there's almost no shade on that course. On my open/wooded scale it gets a 5 bottle of SPF 45 rating.

'94 Worlds in Port Arthur, TX. The first few days it looked like rain every day but it never fell. The day I decided not to carry along my umbrella, it poured like crazy about mid-way through the round. Then it was hot, humid, and everything was wet.

I have gone in snow in less than 5 temp and it was COLD but when thinking of extreme, I think of the thunderstorm my buddy and I played in this last summer. Thunder, lightning, gusting wind up to 30 MPH and raining like mad, but it was warm.

Only complaints of the day was between the 2 of us, we lost 7 discs and my lighter got wet to where it wouldnt work. Not that it would matter as my cigs were water logged.

Ever throw a disc when your max at the time is about 250-275' and have a hard time seeing it in the fairway because of rain? lol

I played in a tourney last year it was about 45 degrees with a 30-40 mph wind, and torrential down pours of rain. The course had really long grass as well which made for really soggy boots. I preregistered for the tourney though and felt like I had to play. It was quite possibly one of the worst rounds I have ever played. Putts from 10 feet out were getting blown off course! Played earlier this year and it was 16 degrees out which was pretty damn chilly. If you wanna play all year in Michigan you have to play in the cold though.

I played league at Cold Brook park in Climax, MI on 12/5/09, and it was 23 degrees with a steady 20mph wind that made it very, very cold.

I've played in 15 degree weather with 45 mph winds blowing all kinds of snow and sleet around. We started the round and it was pretty calm, and we refused to stop when the weather started getting bad. Nobody made any putts longer than about 5ft on the last 12 holes.

I played in winds today that made my overstable discs fly understable. :( It was very very cold, too.

Carrollton Open two years ago in Hurrican Ike

Reminds me of a video a friend sent me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Freio8tif0

It's not me in the video, and I wimped out that day so I cannot claim playing in those conditions myself. But it is my local course.

Now that is a bad putt!

While I was tracking down that Buckhorn Open video, I stumbled across this video from the same tourney.

Schwebby throws a skip thumber off the water and parks the hole, it's pretty awesome.

I played back in Iowa about three weeks ago in 10 inches of snow, wind chill 20 below zero and on the 16th fairway I stepped across a small stream that was frozen, but the surrounding banks were not and my foot went into about 2 feet of water! To catch myself, I placed my right hand down which was ungloved at the time and it went in to the water/snow area as well! I then had to roll backwards on the snow to get out of the situation. I walked all the way around the stream, picked up my disc, got my par and finished the course. I didn't even let that affect my review.
