These are a strange lot. I see them now and again, though some days they're everywhere. They don't talk. They take no time to throw. They don't react to their shots. They don't laugh or smile or swear or frown. They don't look around at nature; their heads are down. No celebrating good putts. They pick up the disc and move on. Usually in pairs, sometimes threes. They just shamble and ooze from one throw to the next, like they're serving some wretched purgatory sentence. Or are they actually so enlightened that I can't comprehend their mastery of the moment?

I feel at least some of this could have described me at times. I doubt I'm quite this uninvolved currently. Depression is more common than most people think. Let's be supportive and keep engaging even though we get little back otherwise they just become more and more ostracized.

They are usually throwing ultimate discs when I come across a group of them...

What is wild is when you have a group like this and each one starts walking immediately after their their shot, so they are constantly throwing directly over top of the person that just threw.

If I was throwing with an Ultimate disc that wouldn't worry me at all.

I see this with 'experienced' DGers all the time too though.

I've never seen anyone throw an ultimate disc on a disc golf hole. I'm not saying it doesn't happen. It just doesn't happen around here.

They are usually throwing Star Destroyers with the sticker on the back as hard as they possibly can in the general direction of their friend that is 50 feet ahead of them.

Edibles. It becomes all the rage, once it is legalized.

this?

actually, some of us are sneaking in a quick round and get bored as hell with discussing every throw, every disc and god help us every pro. I enjoy stumbling on groups who talk about everything and give each other a healthy dose of $hit. I'm a friendly sort, but sometimes it's ok to hate people....

I'm probably like this if I play solo. I don't celebrate good putts because I don't get any. I'm quiet if I have a bad round and if I'm going good, I don't let my self get excited because the next hole will be a melt down.

I think some of you posting haven't really seen this. Or are being obtuse.

No practice swing. No lining up a shot. No looking at lines. No time choosing a disc. No watching their disc. No looking around at the park. No looking for walkers or people at the basket. No stopping to look at their phone. Just throw, walk, throw, walk.

When I see it, it is almost always 2 high school age girls.

When I play solo, I move at a pretty good pace, don't celebrate great shots out loud, nor to I display much emotion.

However, I try to be as aware of my surroundings as possible, whether its noticing posion ivy, thorns, animals, or non players.

I aways think about lines, wind, disc and shot choice, and always appreciate nature.

Can't say I've witnessed this, but I generally don't stare at people to gauge their demeanor and then judge them for it. I'm out there to have a good time. And there's a broad spectrum of human behavior in the world that I don't have to try to figure out. Better to just let em be.

That's how I play.

...but here is an example of what I encountered the other day.

I'm on the first tee waiting for the green to clear. It is about a 250 foot shot, finish to the left. As I step up to the tee, I see a pair of high school aged girls park and pull out bags. I pull my shot to the right a bit. I've got some trees to deal with, so I'm thinking about disc/line choice as I'm walking to my disc. I get to my disc, drop my bag and as I'm pulling out my approach disc and my putter, I notice that both girls are about 100 feet back of me, both lined up to throw their 2nd shot. Both fire their shots about 2 seconds from each other. Both throwing the exact same shot as their first shot, sailing the basket by 50 feet, then throwing full shots back towards me that were thankfully knocked down by trees, then each 2 putting from about 20 feet.

I don't necessarily have a "problem" with it, outside the throwing into crowds part. It just seems strange that they ended up in disc golf.

I left out solo players because it kind of makes sense for people to play that way alone when they're just trying to throw a round ;)

I see this mostly at a course that's kind of in the sticks. I don't see it much in the city. What strikes me is the people seemingly not caring what's happening or being invested in what they're doing. Some are good throwers and some are noobs.

You can almost hear them moaning "Braaaaains..." or rather "Chaaaaains"

They keep a decent pace for sure, and they don't bother anyone. Not judging lol. Just observing.

OP should've named this thread "High School Girls: SMDH"...:| :|

There are a couple players I see on my home course that don't even stop and throw from there lie they just pick up there disc and keep walking and throw. There not new players either, They have been playing there for quite a few years. Pretty crazy sh''t.

They are probably in shock after their parents took their phones away. They walk outside dumbstruck at the crazy stuff called reality and mimic the first thing they see.

I've looked into this and discovered that they are all just late for a rave....all of them....every day.
