Faylor Lake DiscGolfPark

I just stumbled across this course checking out the results for the Collegiate Regionals tournament that just happened. This course looks like it could use a full set of photos.... what I can see of it looks incredible.

@ChrisWoj : Photos don't do it justice, although there are some good ones on uDisc. I just added a handful. The vistas are spectacular, and the grassy fairways are stupendous. I first found out about it from Simon's vlog a year or so ago. Check that out too.

I played it for the first time earlier this year, and I didn't want it to end! The hills are crazy. The water features are intimidating. The woods are plentiful but fair. Even the boring holes are fun. I'll post a full review of it soon enough, but here's a small spoiler: Faylor Lake is one of the best courses in all of Pennsylvania.

I got three rounds in at Faylor this weekend it was great! Agreed photos do not do it justice. Still gonna attach one with my brother's dog though lol

Long to long is 6+ miles and 30+ floors up and down per my watch. Not for the faint of heart!

You can tell how much time, effort, and money were put into designing and building this place. Landing zones and scoring separation are apparent.

There's a little store attached to the gas station in town that has incredible bread, hand pies (by the registers), and ice cream! We decided it'd be a delicious weekend not a healthy one lol

Faylor Lake is for real. My son and I hit it on the return leg of our Maple Hill/Fenway Park trip, and were glad we made the detour. Truly an epic course, and in the convo for best in PA. Getting down the hill on #6 was dicey as hell before "they" installed those stairs.

No stairs sounds like a rough time I'm not the biggest fan of heights.

Definitely top 3 favorite courses I've ever played...might be my favorite honestly. #4 might be my favorite hole on the course it was really well designed. Excited to get back there o the spring for sure.

Quite windy all weekend which made for some tough decisions throughout my rounds lol

I think 4 was my favorite hole as well.

I compared Faylor Lake and Agape Farm in my review of the latter:

Compared with Faylor Lake, Agape feels more woodsy and is more of a workout despite shorter transitions between holes. Both courses are fantastic, however. The two courses are only about an hour apart so play both if you get the chance. You will be glad you did. Tired, but glad.

I compared Faylor Lake and Agape Farm in my review of the latter:
I thought that the Par 3's were better at Agape for the most part and Agape had a few holes that I thought were the best I played that weekend (4, 8, 9) but would likely take Faylor if forced to choose between the 2. The last few holes at Agape were pretty anticlimactic. Can't go wrong with either one though.

Haven't been to Agape I'll have to make it out there as well...I never search courses and don't know of it at all to be honest.

I'll take a peek this evening!

Good review!
My last gripe is the steps. You have to have steps here because you walk down a considerable elevation drop twice, with steep grading. The stairs are actually pretty well done except that the wood they used is bleeding creosote. My expensive disc golf shoes are now stained in several places by creosote tar from walking 100s of these steps on a hot afternoon.
At least the you got to use the stairs. 😉
When I played it (Jun 2022), their weren't any steps. Zero.

Damn near killed myself getting down #6!

Keep up the good reviews!

How would y'all compare this to Muddy Run?

Muddy Run is great, but Faylor is still better just for #6 alone. As good as MR is, I don't think there is a comparison. Faylor has beautiful vistas, pleasing lines, almost every hole is just epic. If you like hills and lakes, Faylor wins. But it has way more space to play with. Is it PA's Maple Hill? Simon made it sound like it.

But... I think Muddy Run is more playable for us plebs. Faylor has short baskets too... but it's still quite happily reminds the bottom 75% how far from the pros we are. I never quite got that level feeling from MR's golds even, even though they beat me thoroughly too. MR I will happily go to multiple times a year, I think Faylor is a once a year pilgrimage, max.

If you drive out there, try the Harvest Fields course about an hour's west. Worth it too but more on MR's level.

Thanks for your thoughts!

I do like wooded courses and to feel like i'm just playing out in nature, but I love a big downhill drive as much as anyone. I think I'll be able to swing by one or two PA courses next week but I'll have to see which makes the most sense for our route. I'm still working on distance and am only really starting to push 300 with my best drives, so yes, I had been leaning towards Muddy Run but will try Faylor Lake when I'm closer to that area. Short and technical layouts are usually the most fun and interesting for my partner and me, with mid-lengths being a fun challenge. Our least favorite holes are 600+ ft just driving uphill repeatedly over open fields.

Rudy overall I'm with you, but need to give Muddy a little extra love. Also @Cass I am NOT a reviewer on here so sorry if I'm missing key points etc.

As many trees as Faylor has, Muddy *feels* more like a wooded course. Don't get me wrong, Faylor has A LOT of trees, it's just the general atmostphere. Faylor *feels* like someone spent $1M whereas Muddy looks more like Tyler, Camp Sankanac, Camp Tecumseh, the more open holes at old Nocky, etc. (not saying they all weren't expensive or took hard work!!!)

I should note I only play long/long at any and all courses unless it's for a tournament/league which is quite rare these days.

I easily (well, generally) played 2 rounds long to long at Muddy but was exhausted after 2 in a day at Faylor. It was so apparent the difference in the physical fitness required for 36 holes in a row. Bad shots at Muddy are almost always a scramble or pitchout, then recover. Bad shots at Faylor are often pretty similar, but also have a bunch of "oh shit I went REALLY far in the wrong direction" shots lol. It was super windy the one day I was there and was fairly calm the second...though still wind/breeze in appropriate places. Faylor has a good bit more elevation change throughout the course even excluding the two top of the world shots.

I agree Muddy is more for the "plebs" as was mentioned, but long to long it's still a very technical course.

No words myself or anyone on here post will truly help. Nor will videos. It's something you truly have to see for yourself. 10/10 would recommend.

I play Lake Marshall a fair amount. The Lions is gigantic and very steep in places. That being said it is only a fraction of the work required to play Faylor or Agape just down the road an hour or so. All 3 are worth the trouble though.
