Marking Your Territory

All i can say is put a phone number on the disc. If i find a disc without a number on it it becomes my younger brothers' disc. If it has a number on it i will call the person right there on the course and drop it off at our local disc golf supply shop. (that way maybe he gets some business out of it too) I've lost 3 discs this year all marked twice with my name and number and have'nt recieved a call but i am hoping for the day where i see someone on the course playing with one of my discs.

I always call if there's a number, it just seems the right thing to do. I know there are those who subscribe to the idea that finding a disc and not calling is okay...that the disc wasn't lost...the search was abandonded and the original owner has essentially given up the right to possession. I'm okay with that...what goes around comes around.

Interestingly, I've had a couple experiences of calling and the owner was greatful for the call and then said to go ahead and keep the disc. These discs, a beat Wraith and and a beat and scared Roc have become favorites of mine- nice to throw and kinda sweet because they were gifts.

The different ways in which people mark their discs has always interested me.

Name and phone number aside, do any of you include other information on your discs? How about special markings or drawings?

You could custom dye you disc. Here is what I have had made:

How did you do those!? They are awesome! I love the Batman. I have a bunch of logos I'd love to put on discs, how is it done?

Midnightbiker!

Thanks for the tutorial on custom dying. Its a great job.
I've been a carpenter/cabinet maker for 20 years and really enjoy reading instructions, mostly for the humour value because most instructions are so poorly prepared.
You included so many great tips.
I especially enjoyed the heads up on where things can go wrong and how to avoid them.

The wicked cat was a nice touch.

peace.

I can't take credit for the tutorial. "Acidbath" is the guy that did all that. I just supplyed the link. Good luck. I can't wait to see your work.

So after having read the How To, is Pooh's ear an example of bleeding?

A good example. That is the first disc that I did. I made that for the wife. Even with the bleeding, she likes it. I also got a little bleeding on the KFC. The Wendy's disc was the hardest. The girl took a lot of detail. I think its funny that the girls eyes came out a little weird. Looks like she just smoked something good.

does that harley one leak alot of oil?..haha

has anyone ever tried the krylon paint thats made specifically for plastic? Ive been meaning to stencil some of my discs.

I go with name and e-mail. Have not lost many but no returns either. To those of you who do not mark your discs. Thanks! Because of my poor aim I spend a lot of time in the weeds and find a lot of plastic. I am sitting here looking at a champion Starfire disc right now. I would love to return it but have no contact info. I try to return all marked discs and have so far. But unmarked discs have allmost doubled the amount of discs I own.

I don't write anything on my Discs. I figure that if I forget/lose a Disc some other kid may find it pick it up and maybe start to play it and have it become a favorite activity of his. Or some other Disc Golfer will find it and have a happy day finding a Disc. I don't lose very much plastic anyway, I don't throw many Discs at one time and when I go into the deep rough I'm out there looking until I find the sucker.

just a doodle, but its a good reminder for me (right before I tee off) and I know its my disc lol

My "KFC" disc was actually lost for 2 weeks. I lost in in a area of very tall grass next to a bayou and looked for 30 minutes and never found it. Found a LS Polaris and a Avair though. 2 weeks later, I got a call from a guy who lost his disc in the same location. He called me, and told me he found it. I live near the airport and he was heading to the airport, so we met at the airport.

I offered him cash or a disc, but he didn't want a reward. He was a really cool. Now when I find a disc, I do my best to get it back to its owner.

As soon as you put a drop of paint on that disc, and you will make that disc illegal. You will not be able to play in tournaments with that disc. Plus the weight will affect the way the disc flies.
