Best disc golf moment ever!!!

while it isn't my story, one of particular interest i read on this site:

I'm sure Prerube/BCR etc. could find exact details in seconds but story of a dgcr member that helps out with school kids. one of the kids that isn't the coolest was playing disc golf for gym i think. he asked DGCR member for help, the DGCR member distracts kids, throws the disc, hits an ace. kid is estatic for getting a hole in hole.

pretty awesome story which is better when the real version is read. (it is from one of the ace members, but can't pinpoint who at the moment, maybe garublador, willcarpenter,billnchristy....)

witnessing tstack's ace has gotta be up with any of my deep birdies ... seriously I was jacked for his shot first ace I had seen and our group had a few already

Had about an 80' putt with about 5 trees in front of me. The shot was down hill early spring and just stuck it. I was ecstatic until I walked up to the next tee pad and grip locked in to the woods 20' ahead of the pad. Hit a tree and the disc rolled back within 3' of the pad. But that is my luck lol.

I was watching Climo play the Moccasin Lake Open last year. Hole 13 was a CTP hole. It was Feldberg's first hole of the round. He parked it about 18 inches from the pin and was still the CTP until the last group played the hole. That was Climo's group. Climo threw his shot and parked it too. It was so close a call that Climo marked with his feet how far Dave's shot was and then his shot. He beat Dave by less than two inches to take the CTP.

disc golf clinic

Earlier this year, I organized a disc golf demo at an elementary school with the help of our local club, discontinuum. it was part of an "exploration day" at the school. I had 4 sessions with about 25-30 students at each 45 minute demo.

Only about 5 kids total had previously heard of disc golf. it was pretty funny watching the little newbies try to throw at the baskets. a few kids got hit with discs that were flying everywhere, but no major injuries or trips to the nurse's office. we had at least 10-15 mph wind all day. not exactly ideal conditions for this kind of demo with 1st--5th graders.

I also set up a mini course with 3 baskets. the kids loved it and each one went home with a mini and a list of the local courses.

If 1 kid decided to try out the sport on their own because of this demo, i will consider the day to be a great success.

My 7 year old son got his first par yesterday. He's got about a 100' or so forehand, hit chains from about 80' for the 3.

Recent: Hit a ~135' jump putt for a birdie on a par 4 hole.

All time: Looking at hole 1 at Deis Hill for the first time was pretty memorable.

Just a week or so ago... shooting blind on the twelfth tee of Ronnie Van Zant. It's got a lot of brush to the right and normally people drive straight and then at the basket once they see it. Well, I just threw over the tall brush in a high overstable shot... that landed one foot to the right of the basket and stuck there.

Twelve inches separated me from my first Eagle and Ace. I threw three bogies on the rest of the back nine... and didn't even care. That was how good that shot made me feel.

I have no idea what the BEST is. But here's a couple good ones.

2 weeks ago hole 9 at Parma...I have a late release on my BuZzz (thinking too much) and I'm headed down a squirrely path...then I hit a tree about 20' off the pad...and it just hyzers out of it and keeps going....I land safe in the "creek". I hit a 40' putt from the 4' below ground level for birdie. Awesomesauce.

On Thanksgiving we played a mini tournament and on hole 5 at Basil (all woods) I got in trouble off to THE SIDE IN WHICH YOU DO NOT GO (the right side on this hole) and I hit a CURTAIN of trees, had to sacrifice a shot to just try and lob it through them. I now have room for an approach (3rd shot) and it get knocked down after going out...so it never came back. I'm roughly the same distance...behind even more trees. Shooting 5.

I toss a short tiny hyzer with a soft magnet, it hits a tree and I have no idea where it is in relation to the basket...but a moment later I hear chains. Blind tree skip hole out. It was such a bad hole that it felt so spectacular.

the first time i parked a hole that wasn't under 200 feet. hole 15 at my home course back in early july, 315 feet with my 5x JK champ valk. walked down, found it sitting about 4 feet from the basket.

i was blown away at what i did

This week has been incredible for me.

Last weekend I made money for the first time in a tournament, though it was less than the entry fee. :)

My first round after that, I scored my first ace.

And to finish the week, I'm volunteering at the Oregon Disc Golf Championship at Trojan. I will see some good discing and get to tell people better than me that they are out of bounds. :)

I wish more weeks could be like this.
