what is the challenger x soft comparable to the most in the innova aviar line? is the bead on the challenger soft considered big or small? i like the soft grip of the soft challenger - any other discs to try?

Just stick with the Challenger... Every company has "comparable" flight characteristics to whatever you throw. But nothing is ever exact. If the Challenger works? I say stick with it... And you'll make Discraft happy:D

The magnet is pretty similar to the challenger. If you're looking for something that feels the same but flies just a hair different. If you're just looking to try an innova equivalent, I'm not sure they have something very close. I've always felt discraft had the edge on them with P&A discs.

Probably the closest is the BB Aviar, the KC Pro or JK Pro.
The feel is somewhat different. Obviously the Soft Challenger is softer and grippier, while the BB Aviars tend to be somewhat stiff.

I am not an aviar expert but it looks very similar to a small bead aviar. The challenger's bead is definitely smaller than a BB aviar/wizard. It looks like it's the same shape and profile but much, much more subtle. Nowhere near as tall. Put two side by side and the difference is apparent immediately.

Challengers have been my main putter since I started, in Pro-D plastic. Nice firm plastic thats still a bit grippy. I am just now experiencing a Supersoft wizard and so far it feels pretty good in the hand. Pretty much same feel with the exception of the bigger bead on the wizard. The Plastic just feels like it wants to be in the chains.

Profile-wise, not so much.

I mean, they're different discs, but they're pretty close.

Anyway, the profile doesn't even matter. The OP said he liked the soft feel of the soft x challenger that he had and asked if there were any other putters that were good and felt like that. I think that a magnet in the same plastic would qualify.

Edit: Sorry for the huge picture. Anyone know how to make it smaller?

Yeah, a magnet and a challenger don't have the same feel at all, IMO. The Challenger is a completely rounded wing. The magnet has a sloped underside similar to a mid-range. They also don't fly the same with the magnet being a much straighter/less overstable disc.

The picture is right there and obnoxiously giant. The difference is pretty slight. We're talking about a small fraction of an inch on the underside of the wing. I don't know about you, but when I hold a disc my fingers aren't even touching right there.

Anyway, the point is that the magnet is a solid putter and comes in the same plastic that the OP liked while still being different enough to justify trying to see how he likes it.

The magnet comes in pro D soft, the challenger comes in elite x soft

Also, how long did it take to upload that picture to imageshack? you can resize on the website, just sayin...

Righteous homies.......Myers indicated the JK AVIAR was Innova's model closest to the soft challenger....and from what I can read it seems to be as well. I don't have the option of feeling discs so I am left to trust you guys... Is there an AVIAR X?

I don't know. I clicked start and then went and did something else for a while. I didn't even look at the options:doh:.

Thanks for clearing up the bit about the plastics. I always wondered why that magnet felt floppier than the soft challengers I've had (That's a hard challenger in the picture though). I always figured it was just really weathered (I found it on the course without a name).
