I got to play a round with Avery Jenkins today at Sunset Park. My boss won a fund-raising auction, and he got to bring one person along. It was me! I can't believe how far that guy can throw. It was humbling, but he was such a nice guy, and was great to point out form issues, and give advice on technique.

At different points during the round he would focus on a specific part of your game. The few first holes were mostly about driving, and picking lines, the middle portion he talked about upshots, and toward the end he dealt with putting issues. It almost felt like we were getting lessons from him. He would walk with us, to each of our shots, talking about this or that. That's not something I expected.

It was almost like playing with a buddy of sorts. He talked about his trip to Asia like a friend would, and was telling us about how crazy the food was. He said that all they did was eat while they were there lol. All in all I had a great time, and learned a lot. He changed my grip a little, and I'm still getting used to it, but I was getting a lot more spin on the discs after than.

I've heard people on here say that he's full of himself, and I didn't get that impression at all. He was very easy going, and fun to be around.

I think people get that impression from Avery because he looks like a football player and it is easy to assume he is an ass.

I haven't really talked to him but he seemed friendly when my daughter sat and chatted up his sister and they talked about flowers and rocks and silly things.

Ive run into him a couple times during tournaments that i was spotting at. He is a real nice guy and easy to talk to. And to that point, most DGers are good people

he's a good guy... met him when he was in charlotte for the doubles championships...he is down to earth and not a snob at all. came off as a golfer who knows what he likes and made a good impression on the sport in whole to me, he gave me his opinion on eastway when i asked and he was very fair in his assesments

I'm so damn jealous. He's probably my favorite pro. What did he change your grip to? Any pics?
I've moved back to a four-finger power grip (from a 3-finger), and he had me move my thumb back closer to my hand, and lift the meat of my palm off the flight plate. It's to get better leverage from your thumb, and according to him, it's ALL about grip strength. He tucks the disc in with his fingers, so he can actually take his thumb off the disc, and it won't fall out of his hand.

I have some pics that I'll post (not of the grip, but of us) as soon as I get them off the camera.

Way excited for you, and it seems that it turned out how I had been hoping for you. Did your fears come true and did you have to tee off in front of E-mac and Barry schultz as well?

Close. We had Nate, Val and Barry in line behind us. It wasn't as freaky as I thought, but I did shank my first drive OB. lol

I partied with him, Val, Barsby and Nate doss at a sushi bar for the Socal Vs Norcal tourney in Santa Maria Ca. Long night of Sushi, Saki and Karaoke. Super cool guys and easy going. Took some sick footage of an in the bag interview while we were faded but had to take it down due to SOME players bitching and complaining. Avery told me to put it in the Murder Archives. LOL

Those videos are pretty sweet and I liked em while they were up. My buddy Matt was out to sushi at the same time so I'll have to assume you were there with him as well. You making it out to the memorial this year?

Did Avery keep looking around like he was nervous? I told him the next time I saw him I was going to punch him in his throwing arm.

He does look like a linebacker. Look forward to meeting him someday, I could use some coaching.
