I'm looking for a reliable big headwind driver. As reference, i can throw a Buzzz 280 with accuracy, Teebird 300-320 on course on avg, and a Wraith 320-340 on avg.

What would you suggest - model and weight? It's my first foray into really overstable and I want to start I. The right general area without buying and trying a ton of discs. (the only one I've tried is a max weight Firebird, but I want something more humane for distance)

My personal choice is a predator. For your arm speed, I think you'll get the best results out of the predator, a firebird, or banshee. The banshee would probably be my first recommendation as it will be more controllable.

Predator my friend.

Can you guys talk a little bit more about the lighter firebird? how light? how much wind does a 150 fb handle?

Pretty much anything billed as a headwind driver will work...it's just a matter of what you have available to you and what feels nice.

Banshee, Firebird, Monster, XXX, Max, Predator, Spirit, Xcal, Teerex, Force, etc...

I use the Pred and Force for most headwind detail.

this question really depends on how strong of a headwind you are experiencing
If you are throwing into a 50 mph headwind your throw will speed up by 50 mph so a 50 mph throw becomes a 100mph and you will need more overstability than a mere 25 mph headwind which becomes a 75 mph throw

something else to consider is that a shallower rim disc such as a firebird, tee bird, viper, banshee often enables a thrower to get more snap on a disc which causes more revolutions which enables more stability in a headwind......I would also add that lower glide and lower turn discs are better in a headwind....this is why sometimes a Halo, Destroyer, Excalibur dont do as well in the wind as some might expect

I would recommend something along the lines of a 170-172g Champion/Star Firebird. They are slow enough that you can keep them under control, but stable enough to throw them into a wind and not worry about losing them way right. Throwing a Star Firebird into a 15 mph headwind feels like throwing a Teebird on a calm day (as long as you keep the nose down). And who doesn't want to be throwing a Teebird on a calm day?

you and i are pretty much at the same distance level and experience, and i use a flx predator, so i guess i'd recommend that

I personally find Flx plastic to be unpredictable in the wind and generally less stable than their regular ESP and Elite Z counterparts. I do like Z preds into a headwind.

My favorite, if you want a little more speed than a predator, is a Z Crush. They are also excellent FH discs.

Z Predator +1; great feel, but I also like love FLX for wooded courses to avoid ridiculous tree ricochets without losing much stability. I also respect it for not using a brick wall of a nose for additional overstability.
Z Force +1; just longer, and one of my favorite FHers, but I have yet to see a good run of ESP.

CFR C-PDs were the meathooks; I don't think the stock ones are nearly as stable, and this run also sports the 'plus' rim.

Trident is a big blunt brick of a FB. XXX similar to a FB in size and speed, but its noticeably more overstable. I prefer the XXX: it can be longer if necessary and just like a trident with a little less power.
