    Other info

    Playing History:
I played some target "Frisbee" Golf in college, but really just got serious about playing Disc Golf around March of 2008. Courses are much better and the game has really evolved since the mid 80's. Using discs designed for this game has really made it much more fun. Plus, dare I say, baskets are so much better than the occasional park bench or road sign (man that damages a disc)!

Since 2008, I learned everything I could and sought out playing with players much better than I on a regular basis. That is my best advice to anyone new to the sport, go play and learn from better and different players. I have played over 230 courses and traveled to new locations helping photograph and logging in distances on many courses with no information. Doing that will teach you a lot. I have taken time to really listen to many course designers and learned much from their perspective and I love some of the stories that they tell. Here is another piece of advice: walk your home course(s) backward. Looks at the holes from basket to tee. It will allow you to see flight paths and options you may have not seen before.

I held the PDGA Record and the Guinness World Record for the Most Disc Golf Holes Played in 24 Hours in 2010. The record was 833 and I was able to be the first person to get over 1000 holes with 1002. I did this to help grow the sport and get it in the news. My story and a video can be seen from these threads: Dedicated Thread & Original Thread
By the way, the pictures of my feet are not for the faint at heart. I also then helped others break my record after that, because that is how we continue to grow the sport. Keep getting it in the news. I always want to bring a positive light to Disc Golf. I really do love our community

    Course Rating:
I love playing at different courses. Every new course is an exciting adventure good or bad courses alike. I have found, the more courses you review, the better you get at seeing what you like and how to review them. I strongly suggest after about 50 courses, to go back and update your earlier reviews. You will notice just how much better you get at doing it. I really like the variety of styles, risk/reward, technical, elevation, short and long hole variation, heavily wooded, wide-open, guarded baskets, water, and anything else a course designer can come up with.

I like reading reviews that are not too long, but still, get me the info that tells me if I would want to play there. So I try to do this in my reviews with just a little humor in the title. I do believe the key factors that affect me the most when reviewing a course are the pros & cons, the equipment & conditions, the layout challenges & terrain, and most importantly, THE FUN FACTOR. If you don't enjoy the adventure, how can you possibly rate a course very high or tell others you should come play here? Anyway, that is how I see it.

    DGCR:
This site is fantastic. I feel it is the best place to help you decide what courses to play, track your scores, your discs, and hear about upcoming events. I love how we all can share what we learn and feel about our experiences on a course. This gives people of all walks of life a chance to share their views and perspectives. You can absorb the info you want and discard what you don't. Either way, you get a variety of opinions, the more the merrier!

This is a great place to meet other players. Enjoy each other's successes and share our stories. Ok, let's face it, I love the forums for good ol' socializing, learning, and BS'ing! ;)

    Peace!

Thanks, it'll be fun to watch and see who gets those voters first, I'd be surprised if one of us doesn't in the reasonably near future. I've noticed you've been cranking out the reviews too, hopefully that gets you there!
I think its great . . . like I said in a thread . . . you have been around since the beginning of time (well this site nearly) have seen over 1 years worth of users that we didn't see, but have quite a few less courses than mashnut and I have played. Both Mashnut and I have played in double digit states and I am approaching 200 courses played while he still has 40 or so reviews to get all of his 247 courses played. It should be interesting . . . I figured it would take 200 courses minimum to get the voters, but more than anything I think you need to be spread out and all three of us are.

Best of luck, I better get to my road trip quickly if I want to ensure beating mashnut to the voters!

I think a diamond get together would be in order unfortunately mashnut and I are in the middle of the country with the valkyrie kid in the pacific northwest and you in the deep south!
Thank you. It's the least I could do to help Tim since I'm a cheapskate that hasn't paid my 25 bucks.
I liked them, but not well enough to replace anything in my bag with one. I mainly wanted to try the Blitz for a thumber. It flew well, but I couldn't get as consistent of a release with it. I think that the lip of the disc is sloped differently than the Xcal I throw for thumbers. I've gotten used to the wider lip on the xcal too.
Apparently, this trip we are taking tomorrow made the list of the 23 great American road trips according to Bing Travel.
Pauls Valley is fine with me though if you think it will be more fun than Broadlawn.
I looked at the pics of Pauls Valley and it looks really wide open and boring. It looked like Broadlawn at least has trees.
What do you think about this itenerary: Will Rogers, Dolese, Griffin, NE Lions, and Broadlawn.
So what is this "something big" that you were referring to? I'm off for the summer now, so let me know when you want to get a round in.
Another thing I thought about, but failed to mention (and you may already be doing this) is to have solar lights at each basket. Also, we would use head lamps for the night golfing.

June 24th should be just about perfect, 2 days before a full moon, one of the longest days of the year! What is the avg. temp in TX on this day? Aren't you guys pretty humid also?

One last thing, what course were you going to play? The course(s) we're eyeing are Family of Christ Lutheran Church in Ham Lake, MN (N of Minneapolis) and ParWest in Monticello (between MPLS and St. Cloud.
Good Luck! As I mentioned, I was/am attempting to set the same record. My plans are almost exactly what you have written down. Table at hole one w/ snacks, beverages, etc. We would play a church course, which would provide a restroom (if needed), I would have either a FT person to play with, or cycles of partners. My sister's a nurse, my wife's 6 months away from graduation (nursing), so we would have both of them rotate shifts.

Do you have a playing partner? If not, I recommend it (if you can find somebody with your efforts). Then, they will be able to help you find discs, etc. Also, even if they just walk with you, then you can take your 'drops', and they can stay behind to find your discs.
Also, are you going to keep track of your over/under, or are you just focused on quantity?
Good Luck with your record attempt, I look forward to hearing your results!
did you ever hear back from the WR guys? I just submitted the same record this week, Good luck in your endeavor, I'm just wondering how long it took for your response.
