I grew up in southeast Kansas and then attended Kansas State University 2001-2006. I played Ultimate Frisbee there for four years. I was always the slowest guy on the team, but I had a monster forearm throw and a knack for leading people downfield.
After graduation I moved to Chicago to start my first job and then got married. So I lost track of disc sports.
My career moved me to West Michigan in the winter of '07. The winters there are miserable so by March of '08 I was looking for something to do outside. One of my buddies and I found nine Innova drivers on Craigslist for $25 one day. We spent the next couple of weeks watching disc golf videos on Youtube and cutting our teeth at Lamar Park in Grand Rapids after work. We slowly explored the rest of the courses in the area over the next couple of months.
I grew tired of playing the same courses each week, so I slowly started to branch out and explore other courses in the state. The highlight of '08 for me was a 10 day roadtrip through the Midwest during the first week of September that saw me play 20 courses in 10 states. That's one of the things I enjoy most about disc golf, actually. You get to see plenty of beautiful off-the-interstate areas that would normally be overlooked.
I will be playing around 3:30 myself, but I'll be out at Old Farm. Lamar is too far away from my work to get it in on my break. I might be able to get out early on Saturday (like around 8 or 9). Let me know if that interest you at all.
Dude, it IS better. Not taking anything away from the Island, it was a great course, but Moccasin was top notch. It was the closest course to a 5 that I have got so far. Very very cool. Im taking it that that is a new course? The baskets and everything looked new. Is it new and how long has it been there
Sounds great. I love playing with new people. Where/when do you like to play? I have been playing Cascade a bunch on my lunch breaks. I can fit an entire 18 holes in on my hour break.
haha thats fine man....I will be glad to show you the chick-fil-a...trying to think where the closest one is to george wilson though haha...anyways let me know!
Hey Greg,
Thanks so much for playing the other day, I really enjoyed playing with you and Jerome. Im looking forward to some unbiased reviews of the local courses.

Just wanted to Thank you for playing through the pain yesterday, foot and elbow. I had a god time sharing the day with people who enjoy the game as much I do. I hope you enjoyed the mini tour. have a good time in NYC.....I hope you play Warwick and Wolfie Woods to hit the century mark...I look forward to some reviews BTW. I won't be offended actually looking forward to some non local opinion. Go Cubs and have a safe trip home....let me know if you hit IUP or Pymatuning on the way home. Be glad you live in Mich and not Jersey!
I hope you enjoyed your DG trip through KY. Nice review of Holler in the Hills, it really is a great course, and as Howie gets enough donations, I'm sure he will put that back into the course.
LoL, there was no sarcasm, I just figured you were a kansas boy use to the warmer winds! mud and disc golf go together like babies and their bottles! It's all good though, lol, btw this place will have very little to zero mud, lots of hills and grassy plains, I will probably rate it no less then a 4, maybe even a 4.5. You will love the north course, reminded me a lot of brewer white, with some begg park distances, flip city hills, and a few wooded holes thrown in to boot. I strongly recommend to play it when you have the chance. Hope all is well--Landon
hey not a prob!
We went there sunday and it was great! I really loved the north course and we are playing both saturday. Yeah I see what you mean bout the weather, 64 and partly sunny, burrrr, lol, ttyl
So I know you had your trip all planned out, but Knockamixon just re-opened the last 4 holes that had been closed for quite some time. Its now a full 18 and well well worth a play when you are in the area. (actually with the full 18 its one of the top 5 in eastern PA, if not in the top 3) Trust me its worth giving it a second thought.
Let me know when you swing through KC and I'll try to free up the time to play Rosedale with you. I think you will find the lower course alot more fun than the upper. We could get both in within 3 hours! Add it to your list - much better than the upper course (if you like technical courses that is)
