Well so far rumor has it that they will keep 9 holes but the woods 6-12 will be pulled "this summer". If your coming down to play it let me know and ill play a round or two with you. If I hear anything else I will be sure to let you know.
Congratulations on your Bronze TR medal! I'll be looking for many more good reviews to come.
You gonna go to the Brent Hambrick Memorial NT Tournament on July 11-12th? Avery Jenkins, Barry Schultz, Dave Feldberg, Des Reading, Liz Lopez, and many more are going to be there, I'm going for sure.
Sounds great, I will be sure to let you know when I head up there.
Well the Brent Hambrick Memorial Course at Hoover reservoir is really good. Although I believe the first two holes are closed until the tourney in July, but it does have 27 holes, so there is still plenty to see. The next best would be Gordon Holton up in Delaware. It is one of my personal favorites. Those are really the only two that I consider a must play in the area, but there are several others that are pretty good as well. If you do make it up here let me know and me and a few buddies can meet up with you and give you the tour.
Well I haven't really talked to my buddy about it yet. We had talked about taking one awhile back but he is going to Ecuador next month which would be around the same time I could do the road trip. I may have to settle for some small trips down south or hit up the east coast by myself and play some courses, I made a small wish list so I'll probably end up going and playing a few of those. Id like to head up to Columbus and play a few of those courses, have any suggestions?
Thank you for all the helpful tips, Sorry to keep bothering you, I just get a little excited when it comes to leaving this "lovely" state.
Well I started with a basic region. I knew that I wanted to head west, specifically California. Then I checked what other things I would want to see and do, besides disc golf. The reason being, almost every state and city has a few nice and challenging courses, so if you find other things that you want to see and do, then you can find the best courses along the way. For instance, we knew that we want to go to San Diego and then up to LA and one place we want to see was Sedona, AZ. So we mapped the route and looked up the courses near places we were going to be and that was that.
Quick question... How did you plan your trip? Did you first map out the roads you would take to your destination and find the courses that were close to major highways or surrounding cities? I'm sorta making a wish list but not sure exactly how I should go about planning this trip.
I cant even imagine driving 33hrs straight. That's a long drive on I-70 if that's what you took, its a straight shot across the US. I'm sure your pro at disc golf now by playing all those courses. It's good practice to play different courses which I'm sure you know.
Wow 24 hours in a car is an accomplishment in itself. I always go into a coma on road trips unless of course I'm driving. The grand canyon and vegas?! I'm jealous. I would never return from Vegas if I went. I love playing slots, and my buddy is an avid poker player and if I let him loose in Vegas who knows what would happen. Anyways I will definitely have to go to Appling, GA to play those IDGC's. The Steady Ed course is a must play course. All this talk about road trips has me itching to go.
That is one hell of a road trip. It must of taken you awhile to do all of that, how long did it take? I'm sure California was incredible, I've always wondered what west coast life is like. If we do end up going on a road trip I will be sure to pick your brain and have you help me out if possible. I would really like to take a east coast trip, cause I gotta play Winthrop Gold.
Looks like you have played a lot of courses, and plan on taking more on. My buddy Jim and I are talking about making a road trip to play some great courses, I will have to check out your wish list and snag a few from there.
