I could make Saturday afternoon around 2pm. I am working on getting that Monday off. We are having a meeting on Monday, and I am putting in my request then. I would love to play Oak Meadows again.
As long as you have fun, that is what counts. I got to play Klein Park yesterday for the first time, and even though I flubbed a 240ft hole, I still had a blast. Finished with 2 under. I don't know how, but my putting was super solid yesterday. My Soft Magnet made a 100ft shot on the first hole, for birdie, and my Titanic was tearing up the chains. It was a good day.
I am off this week, but I am going to call the boss in a little while, and make sure I can get that Monday off. I should be able to get it. I have that Friday off also, but like I said, they owe me a favor, so I hope I can pull some stings.
not a big fan of fast food much any more. since i get down there so seldom, i try to eat as much seafood, cajun food, and bbq as i can. mexican food used to be on the list, but there are so many mexican places up here now... but if i had to choose it would probably be anything but mcdonalds and long john silvers.
What is your favorite fast food? I just want to grab something between Spring Valley and Windwood. I am a KFC man myself.
Windwood and Spring Valley are two of the best. Oak Meadows kicks ass and takes names, but its hard to get out there with out JRW III. If he is not available, we are not getting out there. Spring Valley and Windwood are only about 20 minutes apart. I love Windwood, its my adopted home course since River Grove went private. I will see about getting that Monday off.
I am going to find out tonight. I think I might be able to pull it off. I was thinking that Monday, would give us more time to play. Friday, all I can do is Windwood, because it wouldn't be able to get to Brooks till 3 or 4pm on Friday
What if I took that Monday off , instead of Friday? That way I could meet you at Jack Books around 9-10am, we could play the hard course, and then have a fast food break, and come back , and play the easy course, and then you could head out that late afternoon and enjoy Kemah. Let me know if that would work for you
If you are going to head to Kemah, you gotta hit Taylor Lake Village DGC, and Miramar Park. Miramar is 1/12 miles from the Kemah Boardwalk, and is a fun, and challenging 9-hole course. Its my favorite 9-hole course in the area. Its on a very small peice of property, but its amazeing what they cramed into such a small space.
I wouldn't mind playing Hitchcock myself, but again, I couldn't get out there till 2pm at the earliest. Maybe you could hit Kemah in the moring, and meet me in Hitchcock in the afternoon. Let me know.
I don't know anyone in Austin, but they do have several groups from Austin here on the site, so I am sure you can find someone to meet you at a course there. I have yet to play Austin, but I am going to try to get down there later this year.
Jack Brooks is great, but its a 40-45 minute drive from where you will be. I have never played Mozola, but I have heard its fun. JRW III can get you into Oak Meadows. He has taken others from the site out there. Just send him a pm, he is a really cool guy. That would be a good place to hit on Thrusday. I can play Windwood with you on Friday afternoon. Its 21 holes of fun. Its about 25 minutes from where you will be staying. I will go ahead tonight and try to get that Friday off work.
Damn it, I just relized that I am going to be off at the end of this month, not next month. I tell you what, my job owes me a day off, because we got short handed, and I got screwed out of a tournament, so I will see if I can get that Friday off. I would have to work Thursday night, but I could be awake by 1pm Friday, still plenty of time to get in a round at Windwood. You have some courses near Alief, and they are OK, but not anything special.
Windwood is 21 holes, and every hole is different. You have tight shots in the woods, open shots, shots with trees, and quite a few holes with water hazards. As long as its set in stone that those are the days you are going to be here, I will ask my boss for that Friday off.
Perfect timing. I will be off work on that Thursday and Friday. Just let me know when and where you want to play, of if you want some suggestions. I would definitely put Windwood and Spring Valley on the top of the play list.Pm me your number and I will send you mine. What part of Houston will you be in? I am in the upper northeast side, near Bush Airport. (Humble, TX is the town I live in) There is a tight, woodsy , 9-hole course 11 miles from me, and that is the closest to me, since River Grove went private (still think it sucks), but I will drive all over town. Let me know. Be cool to play with another person who loves the Magnet.
Sure, you can look me up. We have some great courses here. Windwood comes to mind. Its one of the best in the area. Also, we have one called "Army Trail" that is almost finished, and everyone says that one is going to be incredible.
