Hey it was nice meeting you! I had fun at the glow round even though I played like poo. I'll see you next time. Also I would still love to get a disc dyed, I just haven't found the time since school started.
Question about spin dying... I'm getting frustrated and could use some help if you are willing to help a guy out... I saw a post you made and it was a beautiful orange disc with black spin. I have a dimmer switch in my spin box just don't know what I'm doing wrong lol
Did you make it to Bird Bay, and if so, what did you think? I'm leaving for MI early tomorrow morning. I'll see you next time you come down, if not sooner.
Thanks for the kind words. I've always wanted to try the fishing lure dye, but I've found that I can get pretty good colors by painting RIT or Idye mixed with acetone. The colors take almost instantly so you always have to need a handy supply of clean acetone to clean up mistakes with. I think we need an odorless acetone =)
Howdy,
The frog dye is on Star plastic.
It was done with acetone based fishing lure dye.
I think I only used 3 colors, but was able to blend the blue and chartreuse to make that green.
I had green, but it didn't take very well.
I dip the black in Rit, then apply the acetone stuff with a q-tip and just paint it on.
As you can imagine, the acetone dye takes immediately and really burns into the plastic.
The ace-based dye had some interesting effects on Champ plastic, but didn't work as well as it did on the Star.
Cheers, Scott
