With a few tweaks and upgrades this could be one of the best courses in the state.

This is a beautiful course that if you were to play in the Front Range of Colorado, would cost you $10-20 a day, however, this course is free. The pine woods create a great variety of shots that can be used, while still creating plenty of space for a wide variety of shots and power levels. Extremely difficult to lose a disc since there is no water and not a lot of undergrowth. Both AM and Pro tees, help provide fun for all levels. Out of the way of town without being out of town provides privacy and convenience for all. 10-meter tassels at every basket.

-No running water. Bring plenty of water because it gets very hot. With it being at ~6500 feet and very dry, I could see people coming from sea level struggling right off the bat, but if you gave yourself time you should be ok.
-Deer Ticks. Bring some bug spray with DEET and check yourself when you are done.

-Tee signs were easy to see, however, some larger signs pointing to the next tee could help improve the navigation.

This course is built on a beautiful section of land that is covered with mature, well spaced pines. The area below the pines has been cleared and shredded.

Hole lengths vary greatly from a short 223' out to the 814' fifth hole. With 7 holes over 400' and 4 holes under 300' the variety of lengths allows you to drive with everything from a putter to your longest distance driver.

The course is surprisingly flat, but there are a couple of good downhill holes (Holes 4 and 18) and s single significantly uphill hole (Hole 7).

Most of the challenge on this course is shaping your drives through the mature pines. There are very few straight holes, and those have the tightest fairways. Otherwise there are a nice variety of right and left-finishing holes, as well as a few that favor an S-shaped drive.

The tee signs look brand new, and include hole distance, par, direction to next tee, the local business sponsoring the hole (always great to see) and a useful diagram of the hole. Most holes have a sign pointing to the next tee, and usually an obvious trail leading you there. Navigation is excellent on this course.

Tee pads are natural and are outlined with timbers along the front and on both sides. They are absolutely huge, like 8' wide and 20' long. The extra width is nice because it allows you to avoid the occasional rocks and lumpy spots in the tee pad.

The 10 meter circle is marked around every basket with a ring of flexible "white-top" construction markers that stick up out of the ground a few inches. This is the first course that I've ever seen this on and it was a welcome addition. Baskets are in like-new condition and many had flags on top to help with spotting them from the tee.

There is an ample parking lot near the first tee with a porta-john and trash can. The 18th hole finishes back at the parking lot.

With no underbrush or shrubs there is not a lot of punishment for missing the line on your drive. You might hit a tree and lose some distance, but you will probably still have a clean line to the basket.

The natural tee pads are very good, but some have rocks sticking up out of them here and there, and they can get a bit sticky if wet. That being said they are so large that you can usually find a decent place to tee from.

There are a couple of holes where you can see more than one basket, and a couple of others with blind baskets. So plan to do a little scouting ahead on your first round.

It is hard to review this course without comparing it to the other Pagosa Springs course, Reservoir Hill. This course is longer, but not as hilly and not as heavily wooded. The two compliment each other very well. Reservoir Hill will beat you up a little more, while Cloman Park lets you air it out some.

I spent the summers of 2012 and 2013 in SW Colorado, and heard about the planning and construction of this course. This was my first opportunity to get back and play it, and I am really pleased at how good a course it turned out to be.

Nestled in a valley just past the runway this course is a nice compliment to the other course in the area with not quite as much altitude issues. The benches at each tee were awesome. Many trails to next tee were marked. The course has a nice variety of shots with good use of terrain.

In maximizing the terrain the layout of the course was a bit confusing. The 3rd tee is near the 8th tee so watch carefully. Unfortunately many of the ground signs did not survive the winter. Fairways that had bends in them were not marked. I would have appreciated a tape on the basket to indicate the direction of the next tee box, and fairway flags for the longer holes.

It seems to me that this course is normally very dry. I played the first day of spring and mud was quite the obstacle. Still it was fun to get out and see the course. I look forward to playing it again as it is loved into shape.

The biggest pros to this course is the use of trees to force interesting throws. Very few holes had simple straight lines and most of those required hitting a gap. With that said another pro was the fact that while there are lots of trees and bushes to work around the ground was basically clear, meaning it was nearly impossible to lose a disc and if you miss your line you still have a workable second shot. Also it was really easy to find the next tee when you finish a basket. In fact there was a small sign (visible from the previous basked) pointing the way to the next tee and most of them had a lined walk way from the small sign to the next tee. The tee signs were cool in that they were always attached to trees and written on wooden planks they they blended in nicely with the forest. On the tees, they were HUGE. They are natural (dirt and grass) lined with logs a few high on three sides. There was more then enough room to throw and even if one side gets warn down to much, the other side should be fine. The baskets are all marked with numbers giving you a useful check to see if your shooting at the right basket (see cons). Lastly there is a good mixture of thickly treed holes and open holes.

There was a portapotty on site but no other amenities. You are definitely walking through a relatively mature pine forest so be prepared for downed stick, twigs, and other debris on the ground. Also there is a lot of dirt and therefore mud if it rains. Lastly there were quite a few holes where the basket was not visible from the tee. While this is a good technique to add challenge to the course it would be hard to play without the map. There were a few holes where we had to look at the map and then throw in a general direction and hope we could see the basket for our second shot. While the tee signs are nice in that they blend into the forest it would be nice if they showed a diagram of the hole.

LONG: I would have put this in the cons but some people may love this. I've been playing for a few years but I'm no always up for a 700+ foot hole. Luckily there was only one of those and a few in the 400-600 feet range, there rest being around 300ish. Definitely not a great course to take beginners or people without strong arms, like the people I was playing with (me included?). There was one car when we got there and one different car when we left. I caught a glimpse of each group once during our round. Other then that we were alone for the whole round.
Another thing I would mention are that the directions to find the course are pretty good but I never saw the sign for the road (thanks GPS). The road to the course is the one with the airport and human society sign.
