BLAH

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 30, 2022 Played the course:once

Pros:

Course Infrastructure:

Navigation is easy, the course flows well both starting out and ending on the street you park on. Tee signs are in good shape and they do provide distance and where the basket is located even though you can see every basket from the tee pad. They had DISCatchers installed (which are my favorite baskets of all time, sue me!) and the baskets are in great shape. I liked the little bag holders (putter holders if you're going in with only 2 discs like me) on every tee sign, kind of a nice little touch.

Aesthetics:

Like a lot of courses in this area this place sits in a nice neighborhood free from vandalism or trash. It's a fairly quiet park aside from the few cars driving by or the neighbor's dog who wouldn't stop barking when I was on the tee pad for hole 3. You get fantastic views of the surrounding mountains and in an only disc golf area from what I can understand.

Cons:

No challenge:

This course is seriously wide open with the only incentive to throw accurately being that you don't want to throw your disc over a neighbor's fence which is hard to do anyway. Short, maybe 1 or 2 trees which aren't even in the fairway, no elevation, just nothing at all to keep you interested makes for a pretty blah experience overall.

It seems some locals play doubles here or *gasp* even tournaments and have tried to add extra tee pads to this course to make "18" holes. I mean do what you want I'm not here to stop you but why in the hell would you want to prolong the pain of playing this course? No matter where you put those extra tee pads it's all the same throw to a basket in a open field.

Other Thoughts:

I overall don't understand what the previous reviewers were thinking giving this a 3. I mean yes it's a course and such but overall I was hoping it would end by hole 5 or 6. It's probably pretty fine for new players and locals looking for a quick lunch round or something but I would avoid this overall. Course baggers you can get this in in 15 minutes but it's the worst of the bunch in the area full of bad courses.

Quick and easy course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 1, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

This is the place to go if you are introducing someone to disc golf for the first time. It will build confidence and make them want to keep playing.

This course is like an executive golf course...a place where you can get in 9-holes after work and before the sun goes down.

The course is well designed, given the constraints of location and available area. There is adequate signage to allow even first-timers to know where to go.

I have to admit that it felt really good to shoot under par. That hardly ever happens for me. But both my son and I did so at this course.

Cons:

The holes feel a lot like they were made in a cookie-cutter. They are all par 3 and some are quite short (not necessarily bad, but short). There is no hole where you can really let it fly.

There is no variability in the course. No hills, trees, etc. It's just wedged into a new housing development with walking paths around and through the course.

Other Thoughts:

You would never know there is a disc golf course here unless yo happen to be driving though the neighborhood or follow your GPS that leads you here.

As I mentioned about, this is a GREAT starter course. But after playing it a time or two you will be ready to move on to more challenging options.

Sunrise Meadows Disc Golf Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 5, 2016 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Sunrise Meadows Park is apparently the city of Nibley's newest park. It is a drainage retention area located just a short distance from Thomas Edison Elementary School. The area appears to be disc golf exclusive at this time although I don't know if that's what the master plan for this park calls for as the city has many improvements coming to this park, such as grass and trees. I don't know if that means playgrounds and other things but for now the DG is exclusive. This is a fairly beginner and recreational player friendly course with fairly wide open throws and shorter distances. They are planning on adding trees for obstacles in the future but for now it is wide open. There is some water hazard on the last hole, and an errant shot could be unrecoverable.

There are 9 Innova discatcher baskets and tees are on either concrete or asphalt paths. There are good signs and the course is easily navigable because of its openness. The course plays fairly safe and although there are nearby houses the fairways do not encroach on them, but for the most part play away from them. There is OB used to make the course more challenging.

Cons:

Parking is limited to street parking and the course plays on both side of the main residential road. Holes 1-5 are played on the west side of S 1200 W while holes 6-9 are played on the east side of the street.

The course is very short with no holes over 300 feet and many less than 200 feet. The course is wide open with no obstacles to the basket.

There was some swamp like water on the right side of hole 9 that looked like it could be nasty to land in or near when we played.

Other Thoughts:

This is a solid recreational neighborhood course. It is disc golf exclusive and unlike a lot of Utah's other neighborhood courses it is safe to play. It is not the most attractive piece of land but it is good for what it is. The course was fairly well mowed and taken care of when we were there but judging by others comments there can be times when it's not. If the city does put in grass and trees, as they have said they would, it will greatly enhance this property and significantly raise the playing factor here. I do prefer my courses be a little bit more technical, but this should be a good course for introduction to the game and even for more advanced players to practice their upshots and putting.

On a final note this course was difficult to find. I first mapped Nibley City Park which is the name of the park listed here which took me to a completely different park. If any of the mods are reading this, this course's name should probably be changed from Nibley City to Sunrise Meadows, as there is another park with that name. I then tried mapping the address listed on here originally which was 2400 S 1200 W which took me about a half mile south of the course on S 1200 W and that side of S 1200 W and the side the course is on don't connect. The current address I put up is 2500 S 1200 W which gets you to the corner by the park, and it is the address the city of Nibley is using for Sunrise Meadows Park, but it is a 100 feet or so south to the actual park. I was able to actually map Sunrise Meadows Disc Golf Course on google and have it take me there, also the latitude and longitude listed on here will work as well.

Pros:

Short, easy course with excellent signage.
Teepads are smooth concrete sidewalk.
Course navigation is extremely easy.
Ideal course to take beginners or to try disc golf for the first time.
Brand new professional baskets.
Never crowded.
Beautiful sunsets/sunrise.

Cons:

Not very challenging, minimal replay value for an experienced player.
Probably not playable year-round.
The course is adjacent to multiple backyards which creates a lack of privacy (don't try to drink alcohol openly here.)

Other Thoughts:

Overall, this course is very well suited to the time and place where it was built. The majority of people living in the area have never tried disc golf and require a family friendly experience. This course provides an easy and fun place to learn and gain experience without getting lost or dealing with a ton of hazards. It is a welcoming place for children and people with moderate mobility issues.

Beginners only 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 9, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

Not as treacherous as the course in Providence, good for beginners.

Cons:

Terrible weeds everywhere, easy to lose discs even though it's a pitch and putt course.

Baskets aren't numbered,I just picked one close to my car and started from there.

Lots of houses are in play if you make a bad throw or something.

Holes are mostly very short.

Teepads are usually a sidewalk, sometimes going sideways, so a run up is not an option. Also they were marked with cones.

Other Thoughts:

Maybe this course isn't done yet, but some things just can't be fixed, like the distances and the Teepads.
