Pros:

Has baskets and a couple of decent shots?

Cons:

No tee's marked. No map on that other app worth a darn.

Other Thoughts:

9 baskets that go around the school. I attempted to play using the app map but it was using the baskets out of order, or maybe the baskets were in the wrong spots.

Either way, After giving up on the app map, I started playing basket to basket.

For this reason, I did stopped taking pictures and elected to not upload them. I sort of wish I had seen the pic's here before I attempted to play. When I look at the pictures, I can actually figure out where most of the holes were suppose to tee from.

Anyways, hole one throws from the parking area downhill towards a pond that really does not come into play. Hole 2 throws back up the hill. 3 go back towards the pond. 4 throws back up to the right of the school. Hole 5 throws near the school. Hole 6 throws out to the right of the football field. Then you have hole 7. Throwing basket to basket, this hole is like 500/600ft. Then a decent shot across a flood retention pond area. Then hole 9 throws back up to the school grounds over the road. Would make a decent island hole to be honest. Then you got to walk back around the building.

No, not fun, hardly any tree's. A little elevation. This could have been a better course with tee signs and using some area near the pond better.

Would I play here again? No way, it's not worth your time other than to just bag another course. I was attempting to play all the school courses in the greater KC area when I hit this one. It's a one and done course.

Course At A School

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 25, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

Wrapping around the school, Basehor's course has nine clean MachII baskets in some challenging spots.

Some interesting greens, hole 2 is set behind three small trees. Easy to throw over, but with the basket so close behind them it isn't the ideal line. Hole 8 is a 200ft carry over fairly tall grass to a small island, probably about a 25ft circle around the pin.

If you play the previous basket as your next tee, 7 can be played as a challenging par 4 all the way down the running track. However, the map on that orange app shows a tee near the corner of the parking lot, making it a fairly easy dink hyzer for most players.

Mowing was well done in areas that would be easy for the school to ignore. Maybe the mower is a disc golfer.

Cons:

The tee markers in bigreddog's photos were nowhere to be found, making basket to next tee the best option… and that's if you knew their order.

Hole 9 has been shortened to a 225-ish open hyzer due to a new parking lot. The basket is set on a slope and has a chance of going OB on the sidewalk… it might be better than the previous Hole 9, actually. Due to this, the loop around the school only goes halfway around the school, so you have a long-ish walk either at the beginning or end of your round depending on where you park.

Besides 2 and 7 (long) the course is basically wide open. OB on 8 and 9 adds a little challenge, but not enough to turn this into a pro.

Other Thoughts:

Basehor/Linwood really doesn't have much going for it but is redeemed by not having any glaring negatives. It's a fine practice course for those living nearby, but with some very good courses within 10 minutes it isn't going to be a prime stop for anyone.

It's a course and has good baskets 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 9, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

Baskets are nice new Mach somethings. However, tees are just grass and a few are pretty uneven. If the course gets more traffic the grass could get worn down and it could be muddy after any rain. 5/10

All baskets can be seen from the tee. There are a couple holes where you can see multiple baskets because of how short the holes are, but it's generally obvious where to go. 9/10

Other than the pond on hole 2 (or maybe if you go long on 1) you shouldn't have any trouble finding discs. 8/10

For the most part it's pretty easy to navigate between holes since most of the time the tee is right next to the previous basket. The 7th tee is a little hard to find since it's behind a shed, and you have to cross some of the parking lot to reach the 9th tee. 7/10

The course was well mowed, all baskets and tees were present. However, markers for tees weren't very visible. Small signs showing hole number and distance would be nice. No trash cans. Also, since there is little shade, a bench or two would be nice on hot days. 6/10

Cons:

Every hole is almost completely wide open

No alternate pin positions. 0/10

This course provides no challenge for intermediate or advanced players, and the only challenge for beginners would be distance on a couple of holes and avoiding the lake on hole 2. Challenging all levels 1/10

There's not really any holes that force you to throw particular shot paths (so obviously also no variety in shot paths) since there aren't many trees at all. The school building on hole 6 prevents you from throwing a left to right shot, but that's about it. 1/10

Very little decisionmaking required. The pond on hole 2 might make you question throwing a RHBH hyzer if that's your go to shot. 1/10

There is little variety in distance. Most holes are between 200 and 250ft, with 1 and 9 being a little longer and 7 being a little shorter. Most experienced players will throw putters on holes 3-8 and a midrange on the other 3. 2/10

There aren't many obstacles available on the land that the course could use. I'm glad they incorporated the pond as an obstacle. There are a few very small trees that could potentially add some obstacles in the future, but for now they aren't tall enough to affect the flight of a disc. 2/10

The land here is pretty flat, but they do utilize what elevation there is with some decent variety. 1 and 7 are slightly downhill, 2, 3, and 9 are slightly uphill. 3/10

Other Thoughts:

Overall challenge: 1/10

I was encouraged by the first two holes at this course, but the rest were pretty boring. It was also VERY exposed to the wind, which is the only thing that provides a challenge after hole 2.

Although it's not a course that I would enjoy playing again and again, being on school property could help raise awareness and spread disc golf as a whole to the next generation.
