Getting Closer to a 5-Star
The scenic beauty of the park. The incredible length and difficulty of the holes and the course. The variety of holes - no 2 are alike! Restrooms and picnic areas available. Water fountains on the course. The NEW TEE PADS!!!!
Minimal mowing of fairways, especially...

Should Locals Review their Home Course?
Fully dedicated course - no bikers, hikers, equestrians, scout camps, nothing but disc golfers. Course was converted to 27 holes in April 2007. Two tee pads and 3 pin placements per hole. A third tee will be added to many of the holes in the future...
Nothing boggles my mind more than people who say, "I hate concrete tees". I know at least 3 people who shy away from courses with concrete tees.
Remember, people complained about automatic transmissions when they first came out too. Some folks preferred their icebox over those new fangled...
Long before I ever got involved with disc golf, I was throwing round objects at a target. In eastern PA where I grew up, there is a game called quoits (pronounced - kwates). I didn't know it was a regional game until I moved to DC in 1988. In my PA hometown, everyone has a quoit set and everyone...
Newark DE (esp now with Iron Hills) and Allentown PA both have better disc golf than Raleigh.
Plus, Kentrock is in Raleigh and that alone should demote them off the list.
Iowa has the 2nd most amount of courses of any State. Surprised to not see more Iowa in the list.
I agree 100%.
WOW! I know I'm a cynic, but damn! That's a seriously cynical viewpoint and thankfully one that my 20 years of experience can't justify. We get labeled a "stoner" sport for many justifiable reasons. But vandalism and kids hanging out at the park is HARDLY the reason why...
Seneca is easy to get to and about 20 minutes from the beltway. Take 270 North to the Clopper Road exit. Stay on Clopper 2 miles, the park entrance is on the left.
Personally, I would bail on Bluemont unless it's all you have time for. Come to Seneca. It's WELL worth it. If you shot a 90...
Think about the telelvision production costs involved with table tennis, spelling bees, video golf, poker, bowling, etc. One or two cameras is all you need and you never have to worry about protecting the equipment from the elements. Why do you think Poker is so popular on TV? Because it's so...
This is now Hole 13 at Seneca. It gets my vote as a "Best Hole, period".
So does Hole 8 at Patapsco Creek State park.
The "Beauty" at Brandywine.
There are a couple of holes at Paw Paw that qualify, especially the one where if you fall off the front of the tee pad, you roll down the cliff...
We play strictly blind. Some of us tend to be a little too strict about it. Using a flashlight to illuminate the basket is totally verboten, and I can see that. But some guys get upset if you pull out a flashlight to find something in your bag because the light "constricts my pupils, man"...
The little LEDs have made my 15-some glow disc collection completely obsolete. With the LEDs, it's easier to find plastic at night than it is in the daytime.
Glow is fun, but for me it's a Standard Time thing. Once Daylight Saving Time hits, glow season is officially over. I play lots of...

Flat and Fun
Smartest use of 4 acres you'll ever see. Lots of gorgeous trees. Well maintained, grass is always cut and rollers scream. Excellent tee pads. Great volunteers that help maintain course and move baskets a lot.
No elevation. Course below street level and holds water. Fairways...
