Review by Shadrach3 in course Moore Middle School

1.00 star(s) Big Flat Field A wide open, nearly pancake-flat practice course. This is one of those courses that you can take one look at and know the entire extent of it. In this case, one look is all it takes to see the whole property. In the large fenced field of Moore Middle School lie nine baskets. No...

Review by Shadrach3 in course Ford Park

2.00 star(s) A Course is a Course, of Course, unless, of Course, that Course Has No Pads A course or not a course? Either way, a nifty park to throw in. To depart from my enigmatic start - this is a totally charming park. Medium hills, thick pines, other trees, lush grass, and a central pond make for about...

HOD 4/27/2024: McCurry Park Hole #2 Fayetteville, GA

Really like this course - one of my favorite examples of Very Good that will never be a destination, yet I would love to play constantly. RHBH Mockingbird off the, get a bit left. From there RHFH Boss or Shryke depending on the angle.

Review by Shadrach3 in course Yucaipa Regional Park DGC

3.00 star(s) Enjoyable, Zany An enjoyable oldie with some unusual holes. A lot of my observations in this review have almost as many exceptions as their rules. This is an old course that appears to have seen consistent, piecemeal changes, resulting in varied holes, equipment, and surroundings. For all of...

Review by Shadrach3 in course Nicklaus DGP

2.00 star(s) Flat Jaunt in the Hills A course clearly designed for novices and better executed than most of its kind - but on the low end for a DiscGolfPark design. -Amenities: Standard DGP amenities but on the shabby side. Concrete and turf pads, but slightly uneven and with some turf ripping. DGP baskets...

Review by Shadrach3 in course Oak View Park DGC

1.00 star(s) A Fallen Hero - well, fallen at least A decent piece of property whose course has substantially faded back into nature. -Property: While not stunning, this property has all it takes to put together a great 9er. In fact, it looks like it once housed a sensible circuit of 9 holes that might have...

Review by Shadrach3 in course Cottonwood DGC

2.50 star(s) Straightforward but Fun A standard bolf and frolf combo with nine simple but enjoyable holes. -Turf: As usual, this golf course has great grass on which to play. Moderately skippy, quite grippy, and enjoyable to look at. -Baskets: Good Mach-Vs. -Flow: Super easy to follow and almost a clean...

Review by Shadrach3 in course Rancho Del Sol DiscGolfPark

3.50 star(s) Rolling Hills, Long A big ole bomber course for the big arms, on the site of a hilly former golf course. -Amenities: The standard, premium DiscGolfPark treatment. Excellent tee signs with maps (though why they don’t have pin position indicators is beyond me), DGP baskets, spacious turf tees...

Review by Shadrach3 in course Paragon Park DGC

2.50 star(s) Scrappy A thrifty 9er that is way better than you’d expect from this park land. -Amenities: Concrete tees, new DD veteran baskets. Two pin positions per hole which offer good variety. Didn’t have tee signs but baskets were all pretty simple to spot. (Makes me wonder if tee signs will become a...

    Advice in Georgia and Carolina

I think among the suggestions that have been made, there aren’t any bad ones - it will depend on your taste. The one I second strongly is to play Camp Canaan if your timing works (maybe same day as Stoney even - for my money, those are the two best on your itinerary). My hot takes on some -...

    Classic Review lines

This is a good question and, as you noted in a later post, it it is relevant to courses, not just practice areas. To take it a step further: the loose/general consensus on DGCR seems to be to rate all courses as they compare to each other, on one continuum. Championship 18er, putter course...

So, how did you play today? Part II

Got out for a bagging trip for the first time in a while. 9 courses, 103 holes, 33,000 feet. Actually had some decent rounds, which sometimes doesn’t happen when I’m just playing fast. Several near-misses on pitch n putts and also scared the chains on a 380’, which I’ve never done.

You can only carry 3 discs a driver, mid, and a putter. What do you choose?

A fair percentage of the courses I've bagged this year - err, last year - were with a minimal setup like this crammed in a corner of my carry-on bag. Lone Star Mockingbird, Discraft Buzzz, and Innova Aviar3.

Review by Shadrach3 in course Deerfield Community Park

1.50 star(s) Gateway In what appears to be a true “community” park, a minimal but nicely-done beginner course. -Friendly: Easily the strongest trait of this course is its welcoming environment and beginner-accessible design. The course has a welcome sign with rules, tips, and a course map. There aren’t any...
