I'm not surprised that there are those out there that want to whine, but seriously, if it doesn't affect you, why are you so concerned about what other people are doing? There have been numerous positives mentioned in this thread for having a caddy, and very few negatives. Do the math.

My elbow is causing my problems, so I haven't been able to play for the last four weeks. Therefore, I've caddied for my 14yo son in one tournament and a couple of minis. I enjoy getting out on the course and watching him play. We've played countless casual rounds together, but have never been paired together in a tournament setting. It's fun to watch how he approaches different situations in a competitive round.
