Had some very sad news today about one of the guys that was always very active on this rules forum - Cheesethin, AKA Ric Taylor a friend from up North in England.

He had a fantastically analytical approach to rules scenarios and had an ability to show you how you were wrong without making you feel stupid in the process. He was also a very nice person.

From his home course Facebook page, Manchester Disc Golf:

Ric Taylor - some sad news.
It is with great sadness that Manchester Disc Golf have been passed news of the death of a friend, and fellow player, Ric Taylor. A friend of his has been in touch to let us know the news.

"Ric had come to love disc golf greatly in recent years. Many of us had been encouraged out with him to throw around the Longford Park course and we know he had been enjoying heading off to meets / competitions around the country. We understand he was quite active in online forums and was often down at our local park in Hebden Bridge working on his technique. I know the game brought him a lot of joy and he was very enthusiastic about all the lovely people he met in the disc golf community."

"It was a huge shock when Ric was diagnosed with a brain tumour in January this year. He was cared for extremely well by the NHS and our local hospice and passed away peacefully a few weeks later with friends and loved ones around him."

Those of us who played with Ric, or volunteered with him, will remember him as a fun companion full of interesting stories and always a kind word to say. There was never a dull moment during a round with him.

Ric and his cap will be sorely missed

RIP Dude"

Damn...sorry to hear that. At least he passed peacefully. Maybe the next time we hear thunder it will be him banging away at the chains up in the sky.

Will miss his contributions to the rules forum.

If he had any family, I hope they're doing as well as can be expected, and that his passing doesn't leave them in a financial crisis, on top of dealing with their grief.
