Disc comes out of tree AS it is being marked

Interesting one at our local league day today.

My card mate threw and got stuck in a tree. As he approached and bent down to mark under the disc above him, the disc came out and rolled away. His hand was still on the marker in the act of placing it.

Where is the lie? The fallen disc, or the marker that still has his hand on it.

We played it from his placed marker, not the disc (because another card mate picked up his disc as it was rolling away).

Once the disc is declared at rest, you mark in reference to its position at that point, not where it may move due to wind, water or being contacted by something else like another thrown disc before you can reach that location to mark it. See 810.A. Interference.
