HOD 12/2/14: Golden Gate Park DGC Hole 16 in San Francisco, CA

I am playing C

Because the basket is clearly in the C position I am side arming a 175g Star Max around the mando, curving left of the pines and hoping it rides back near the basket. Cool Hole!

GGP #16 is slightly uphill overall, maybe 5-10 elevation gain. The fairway slopes significantly right-to-left, then rises near the green with drop-offs behind. Plays about 30 feet longer than it measures. (The B position is straighter and more uphill, playing over 300 feet.)

The mandatory forces the right-to-left flight to avoid OB (and other park users) in the meadow to the left.

The ideal route is the early, medium height right-to-left with something flat-stable that doesn't fade too hard. Lefties definitely need to take this route.

The alternate route, often a lucky mistake, is the higher, harder hyzer with something more stable which fades left fairly hard at the end.

Really fun course right in the middle of awesome San Francisco.

Id throw a judge, or maybe a truth to play the slope a little.
