I Am Digitizing My VHS Tapes of Late 1990's Michigan Disc Golf

Feldberg was in Am-1 at that time. I played with him in that division locally in 1999 too as he was starting to get good.

Finally got my VCR out of its storage box, hooked up, and got this 1998 Cracked Plastic Classic video on YouTube just now. This tape got to me via Larry LaBond, who said it came from John Mick (who I haven't seen in many years). It looks like it was maybe a class project or something.

There's way more than just the tournament here. Lots of this main guy explaining Disc Golf and playing catch with a Frisbee. (He looks super familiar but I don't quite remember who he is; I wouldn't move to Kzoo until later that summer, and I stopped playing seriously for over 15 years only a few years after this). They visit In-Flight and show a few Discs there. Also, there's a glimpse of Oshtemo Township Park before it had baskets, still in the planning stages.

Lots to see here, especially if you're interested in the local scene from my area. See if some of you can spot yourselves! Enjoy!

Not Michigan, but it's home video footage from the camera of a legendary Michigan player (Larry LaBond). I've got my VCR working again and this is just a clip from his tape featuring the leaders of the FPO division in the 1999 PDGA Pro Worlds teeing off for the final 9. It's just the tee off on the first hole. If more was there on that tape, believe me, I'd get it up on the channel, but at least we get a nifty side view of Juliana, Elaine King, Amy Bekken and Anni Kreml as they throw a full drive. Enjoy!

Clip #3, this time it's the chase card at 1999 Worlds featuring a side-view angle of Al Schack, Mike Moser, Chauncey Donaldson, and Aaron Wield (age 16!!) teeing off for their final 9.

It'll be a little while for clip #4, which is all 9 holes of the final 9 showcasing Russell, Climo, Stokely and Schultz. A wee bit more editing for that one. Possibly a project to do over the holidays coming up. Cheers again!

Hot off the press! It's me in the spring of 1999 playing all 10 holes that existed at Oshtemo Township Park in Kalamazoo. I'm teeing off at the beginning there on a brand-new hole just cleared. It's today's Hole #10. Can you believe the trees here? They might've been tiny compared to today, but believe me if you weren't on the fairway, you were getting bloody legs wearing shorts in the rough. Enjoy!

LMAO. We played Oshtemo in the spring/summer of 2000 and walked off the course. It might be the only course I have ever just quit. It was brutal....raspberries, poison ivy, rose bushes, bees, snakes and I am pretty sure I saw bigfoot. I did not go back for probably a decade. It turned into a wonderful course.

The other day on Reddit, Brian Earhart mentioned that he got to play some freestyle with Ken Climo at USDGC going on right now. It jarred my memory that I had footage from 1999 of Kenny playing freestyle right before the final 9 of the 1999 DGLO at Hudson Mills right in front of tournament central. Here's the video I pulled off of the VHS copy:
