The La Mirada Disc Golf Club hosts a monthly disc golf tournament on the 2nd and 5th Saturday of the month starting in January and running through December. Rick Ascheri will be the tournament director for 2011 with some help from some of the other locals. On the 2nd Saturday of the month we will play 2 rounds of 18 holes of disc golf. On the 5th Saturday of the month we will play one round of 27 holes or one round of 18. We will alternate the rounds between the Lakeside 18 course and the BACK-18 course with some variation depending upon the date.

We will have four (4) divisions as follows: Open ($13), Advanced ($10), Intermediate ($8) and Novice (FREE). Everyone is welcome to participate. Also, anyone can play in the Novice division, including ranked players that may be short on funds for the week or month. Please check in at least 15 minutes before the start time. The monthly start time is always 10am so please arrive no later than 9:45 to check in.

The Open, Advanced and Intermediate divisions will play for Cash Prizes based upon the number of players that register in the division: Open (40% of field), Advanced & Intermediate (45% of field). A small fee is paid to Los Angles County of Park & Recreation for each player that pays to participate in the tournament.

Prizes such as discs, bags, minis, towels and other donated disc golf equipment will be awarded to some number of players in the Novice division for each tournament. Sometimes we will have new discs to give out. Most of the time we will have used discs to give out. Note that ranked players (those that have a rating of 850 or above) are excluded from winning a prize in the Novice division. Ranked players are welcome to play anyway and even help instruct the new players.
